A beautiful weekend out at Blue Wren Farm in Mudgee for Karina and Wade’s big day - and these two pulled the whole thing together in just a few months. Safe to say, they absolutely nailed it.

Even when a freak storm rolled in right in the middle of the ceremony and forced a quick location change, Karina and Wade just kept smiling and rolled with it. Chilled, easy going and full of love - honestly the simplest way to describe these two.

And while that storm blew us out of the outdoor ceremony spot, it cleared just enough to hand us one of the most intense, stunning sunsets I’ve seen - complete with a rainbow and all. So naturally, we ran out into the field to grab some photos while the sky lit up with colour.

Such an epic day with a genuine, down to earth bunch of people. Congrats again Wade and Karina on an amazing day

This weekend was the perfect way to kick off wedding season - two amazing weddings, two incredible couples. And wedding number two, Chelsea and Reece, was pure magic.

I always love a wedding in the Southern Highlands - the place is wedding paradise, and this time of year it’s something special, especially at sunset (you’ll see what I mean in a few of these).

Relaxed prep, a ceremony in the most photogenic church I’ve ever shot, a portrait session full of laughs, and one of the most magical sunsets I’ve seen - then amazing food and even better tunes on the dance floor to top it off. Their day ticked every box.

What a way to kick off wedding season! 

Caroline and Lawson’s day was one of those weddings that reminds me exactly why I love this job - an incredible crowd, one of my favourite locations, and a couple who are just as fun as they are in love.

Alright, let’s talk trends.

Every wedding season has its own feel, and this one’s already got some strong contenders for what’s about to be everywhere.

Warm, earthy tones are having a real moment - rust, terracotta, burgundy, chocolate brown - taking over from the soft neutrals we’ve seen the last few years. And instead of matchy-matchy bridesmaids, couples are mixing warm tones together - rust next to dusty rose, w**e, mustard - so it feels more like a sunset than a colour swatch.

Flowers are following the same mood. Less tight, domed bouquets, more loose, gathered-from-the-garden shapes, with a shift toward sculptural, asymmetric arrangements and mono-bloom statements over the classic mixed posy.

I’m back!

I stepped away from Instagram for the last two months, for a couple of reasons.
First - I was recovering from ankle surgery, which was pretty brutal, but I’m so close to being moon boot free. You’d think being couch bound for weeks would be the perfect chance to get things done (and I did, just not Instagram), but sitting still actually kills my creativity, and there was a lot of sitting still involved.

Second - I just needed a break from social media. I’d fallen into a bit of a rut, comparing myself to others, doubting if I’m still good enough, and social media was just making me angry. So it felt like the right time to step back, get some space, and recharge my passion for sharing my work again.

So I’m back (though some of you probably already clocked it from my sporadic posting habits) and I am so pumped for this wedding season.

Got a double header this weekend too - Friday in tsydneyweddingonal Park, Saturday in the Southern Highlands.

Should we bring back the single post?

I keep seeing this sentiment doing the rounds - people are over the carousel and just want... one photo. No swiping, no “wait for it,” no content calendar energy.

Turns out it’s a real shift, not just a vibe. Social strategists are calling it a craving for simplicity after years of overproduced, hyper-curated feeds. A single photo feels more like something a mate would post, not something a marketing team spent three weeks building. There’s an argument for the mystery of it too - one image leaves room for imagination instead of answering every question for you straight away.

The algorithm doesn’t necessarily agree though - carousels still win on engagement because every swipe counts as interaction, even without a like or comment. So it’s genuinely a trade-off between what feels right and what actually gets seen.

Personally, if a photo can hold its own weight, I’d rather just post it solo. Case in point.
