WHO’s toolkit is a bundle of products designed to help strengthen prehospital emergency care systems. These tools are intended to help address commonly identified gaps in the main components of a prehospital system (governance, , prehospital provider , equipment & medication, , and quality improvement). Abigail Trewin, CEO of St John NT, brings more than 15 years’ frontline ambulance experience and over a decade of executive leadership across disaster health, complex emergency operations and government systems, including service with the World Health Organization Emergency Medical Teams Secretariat in Geneva to the Territory's ambulance service.

An Intensive Care Paramedic by background, Abigail served as a Director and Mission Lead with National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre AUSMAT leading multidisciplinary teams across major domestic and international disasters. Her leadership has focused on operational reliability, clinical governance, workforce safety and disciplined ex*****on in high-risk, high-scrutiny environments.

Keynote Speaker Spotlight!

Dr Matt Brearley PhD is a thermal physiologist, adjunct professor, former exercise scientist of the year, and has contributed to over 50 published papers and book chapters. Matt managed the National Heat Training and Acclimatisation Centre, Darwin and was the heat specialist of the Australian Olympic Team in the lead up to and during the 2008 Beijing Olympic games, prior to joining the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre in 2011. He is Australia’s pre-eminent occupational heat stress consultant, working across a wide range of industries to maximise the health, safety and performance of heat-exposed workers.
