Yesterday morning felt like one of those sessions that could’ve gone either way.
We arrived at the beach with drizzle in the air, skies shifting every minute, and that quiet moment of “do we push this back?”… but instead, we leaned in.
This one felt extra special. They are dear friends of ours, our kids are the same age and we spent countless days by the beach hanging out.
There’s something about photographing people you love that just hits differently.

And somehow, it all just aligned.
Soft light, wind in their hair, little feet in the sand, laughter that felt effortless… the kind of magic you can’t plan, only witness.

These are the sessions that stay with me. The ones that fill your chest when you look back at them.
And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, the most epic rainbow stretched across the sky to finish it all off.
Proof that sometimes, you just have to trust it and go anyway. ✨

The past few years have looked a little different for me.
Becoming a mum has quietly shifted the way I see everything, including photography.
After many years of weddings, I’m starting to move into something that feels more aligned with this season of life,
photographing families, motherhood, newborns, and brands in a way that feels honest.
I’ll still be capturing weddings, just making more space for the everyday moments that pass a little too quickly.
My approach is staying the same: natural, unposed, and rooted in real moments.
If you’ve been thinking about documenting your family or your work in a more natural way, I’d love to connect 🤍

Wedding tip:

If the timeline allows, step away for 10 minutes at sunset.
By that point the ceremony, family photos, and portraits are usually done and the day starts to feel more relaxed.
It becomes a quiet moment to breathe together before the evening celebrations begin.
And the light is pretty magical too.

Mornings like this aren’t really about timelines. They’re about your favourite people circling around you, fixing your hair, calming your nerves, and reminding you to breathe (and eat something).

It’s part chaos, part therapy session, part comedy show, and somehow, exactly what you need before you walk into one of the biggest moments of your life.

“I hate posing. We just want candid photos.”

I hear this all the time. And honestly, I get it.

Most people aren’t models. Being in front of a camera can feel unfamiliar, awkward, even exposing. The fear isn’t really about posing, it’s about being made to feel unnatural.

And I’m with you. Forced, stiff posing that pulls you out of the moment doesn’t belong on a wedding day.

But here’s the truth most people don’t realise: many “candid” photos begin with gentle direction.

Not posing — direction.

“Hold hands and walk together.”
“Pull her in close.”
“Whisper something only she can hear.”

Simple prompts that give you something to do. Something to focus on besides the camera. Movement replaces self-consciousness. Connection replaces performance.

And within that, something real happens.

A laugh you didn’t plan.
A glance you didn’t realise you gave.
A moment that becomes entirely yours.

That’s where candid lives.

My approach is documentary at heart, observing, anticipating, and capturing your day as it naturally unfolds. I step in only when it adds value. To create flow. To ease nerves. To guide you into moments, not manufacture them.

Because the goal isn’t to pose you.
It’s to help you forget the camera was ever there.

There’s something about the view at Willow Tree Estate. The wide open skies, rolling green lawns, and that soft Hunter Valley backdrop that makes everything feel still for a second.

This is why I love photographing weddings here. The landscape doesn’t overpower the day, it holds it. Calm, expansive, breathtaking.

There’s a quiet kind of magic in the hours before a wedding begins.
The dress waiting patiently. Laughter drifting through the room. Final touches being made while the anticipation slowly builds. It’s a space filled with nerves, excitement, and the realisation that the day you’ve imagined is finally here.
These moments are never rushed or staged — they unfold naturally, surrounded by the people who ground you, calm you, and celebrate beside you.
I’m always drawn to documenting this part of the day because it holds so much emotion, often in the softest, most fleeting ways.
