Tell me which one or ones you think are worth submitting to the photo contests!

I've been spending the day reviewing the more than 30 thousand photos that I've imported into my workflow since then... and since some photo contests are just starting, I took some time to select the possible photographs that I've taken so far, which might be worth submitting to compete in these contests.

Since many of these contests have different types of categories, I need to select different types of photos that I've been taking in the last few years.

Architecture, portraits, landscape, wildlife, etc... I thought I'd ask for your help and find out which ones you like the most!

So far (I'm halfway through the photos) I've selected 300 photos, of different styles.

In this post, there are 10 photos that could fit into portrait or documentary categories.

When I think about what are the functions or "usefulness" of a photographer in society, or even in their own lives, one of them I would say is their relationship with memory.

For several reasons. And one of these reasons is what touches me now. It is the memory of longing, but longing as a creative reference, not as a lament for a loss.

I have been in the process of (re)constructing and creating as a photographer, ever since I decided to turn my life upside down, when I left Brazil and came to Australia.

And since then it has been a daily struggle. Anyone who has experienced something similar knows what I am talking about. And in this process, when I look at my photos of Brazil, the ones that have a certain quality to be included in my collection of possible photos to be exhibited as work photos, I see what these photos bring back to me from memory.

Photography allows this. To look, physically, at your past. Not just as a mental image. It is there, in front of you. Something real. And when we look at this memory, we can use it as a creative or aesthetic trigger, a reference to improve or to see how much we have already improved technically as photography professionals.

Looking at these three images that I bring here today, they are the first photos of what I would call my collection, which is still under construction, of the photos that I want to bring to the public for what I have been building.

I'm in Thailand, with my best company more specifically, at the moment, on the paradisiacal island of Ko Pha Ngan.

This evening, photographing during sunset on the beautiful Salad Beach, I realized that I could try to see the comet.

I knew the difficulties, mainly because it was cloudy near the horizon, there were a lot of lights in the establishment I was in, and because I didn't bring my tripod for the trip.

But when I had almost given up, I noticed a "star" in the sky that seemed to be blurred, in the same place that the comet could be... I didn't know if it was my vision without my glasses or if it could be the comet.

I went to the beach sand to try a less lit place with some support to photograph long exposures. I know I could have better photographic results in better conditions, but I loved seeing and photographing my first comet in my life.

And not just anyone. The comet "C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS)" is considered one of the best in history to be observed and will only return in 80 thousand years.

Being able to see and photograph this comet, during this trip to wonderful Thailand, I hope it is a beautiful omen of an incredible future for me and the people I love. and also for the planet, that beautiful pale blue dot in the cosmos, which I love to be with.
