Sunrise hike to start their elopement day!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we were driving up, we drove through these moody clouds not knowing 100% what the view would be like. But then we popped out of the clouds into clear views and looking back--we could see this beautiful inversion hugging the mountains with the moonlight bouncing light off the clouds. it was probably one of the prettiest inversions on that drive we've seen in a while. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So we started our hike at 4am and had our extra microspikes for these two! it was such a beautiful morning with hardly anyone else on the trail for the whole morning. They exchanged their vows high up in the mountains before legally getting married below at a beautiful lake. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So thankful for these two, their flexibility, and for letting us document their day!!

I’m learning how to let go of editing and composition tendencies as a way to help me be more flexible in how I document films.

By no means are we going full black and white or this experimental for your elopement films—but just wanted to share the behind the scenes process of how we’re visually trying to learn more about textures, sound, and the essence of your experience.

Connie and Andrew did an elopement weekend with us backpacking in Tahoe up near 8,000 ft with some of their closest backpacking friends (and their doggo, of course). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We also celebrated with family back at a cozy Airbnb with a traditional tea ceremony, sushi, and cake! It was such a beautiful experience, and we're excited to share more photos from this last weekend soon!

Heading back through Moab later this April. Pretty excited about it. Largely because of sweeping sunset views like this and sweet potato quesadillas from Quesadilla Mobilla.

When we lived in Grand Teton National Park, we lived in a small dorm tucked in the trees, next to the campground--just a short walk to the shore of Jackson Lake and glorious views of the Teton Range. And one thing we deeply appreciated was getting to see the mountains in different seasons, lighting, and weather. And we still have that same privilege now with so many beautiful places. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This photo was taken after sunrise when the sun was really coming up, but the clouds dispersed the light and it was a beautiful haze. It's incredibly getting to see the same places over and over again and watch as everything changes around them. No sunrise or sunset is ever the same.

Man oh man. Some of our couples are starting to get their gifts, our guides have been updated, and lots of good behind-the-scenes stuff has been accomplished recently. It's SUCH a good feeling. I feel like we planned 3x more elopements in 2020 with all of the pivoting, so to finally catch up on our backlog of tasks to help create a better experience has taken a huge weight off our shoulders. Now we're just counting down the days until we're back in these mountains!!

Elopement photographers! We wanted to share some tips with ya. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After elopements, it's really important to take care of your body. Sure, one or two long hikes and it's no big deal, right? But when it's the busy season and you're constantly on the road, hiking up steep trails, and lugging a heavy pack--your body would really appreciate some TLC. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Get a foam roller! We keep one in the back of our Jeep so we don't forget it. These are SO good pre/post hiking to loosen up tight muscles. Especially those calves! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Fuel your body with good nutrition. We always keep protein shakes around during our busy season to make sure we're getting enough nutrition. We also keep a small cooking set with us on the road to help us avoid eating out or less healthy options.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Bring your own pillows. Hear me out...if you've been a traveling photographer for a while, you'll eventually realize that most Airbnbs/hotels have terrible pillows that end up hurting your neck. So bring those fluffy pillows when ya can. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4) Hiking poles. There are some hikes where hiking poles are overkill for us, but we tend to hike with them anyway. Our legs have to hike a ton every season, so take the pressure off those knees! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Make sure you're comfortable and doing the small things to take care of yourself! You will show up at 100% for every couple (and for yourself) by taking care of your body.

I dare you to find a couple who loves coffee more than these two!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ryan loves coffee. Like a lot. So whenever we work with couples who also need coffee to survive--it's a fantastic day. These two had a single-origin Ethiopian brew on their wedding day. And that's the way we like it!
