Another shameless self-promotion post — please bear with me.

You may have seen my last post, but I now have even more good news to share. Yes, from last month again… I needed a little time to process it all.

Two Photographer of the Year awards in one month.

This time, I was honoured to be named the 2026 Australian Professional Documentary Photographer of the Year at the NZIPP - the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography IRIS Awards. This year I have also attained the NZIPP Master of Photography with Distinction 2 bars.

A huge thank you to NZIPP for running the IRIS Awards and looking after photographers across the ditch, and to Canon ANZ for sponsoring the event.

My results included:
• 1 × Gold Distinction
• 2 × Gold
• 2 × Silver Distinction
• 3 × Silver
• 1 × Bronze

Last month, I had the pleasure of working with William Yang William Yang | Olympic Swimmer | Founder OLY to create imagery for NewPB NEWPB® | Racing Swim Gear, the elite Australian swim brand he founded.

William’s international medal tally includes podium finishes at the World Championships (1 × Gold 🏅, 1 × Silver 🥈), Commonwealth Games (2 × Gold 🏅🏅), and the Olympics (1 × Silver 🥈).

Inspired by his remarkable return to elite competition after recovering from a spinal tumour, William created NEWPB to give swimmers high-performance gear for chasing their own New Personal Best.

My heartfelt thanks to the Australian Photographic Prize for providing such an incredible platform to showcase our work; to the judges for generously volunteering their time to review thousands of submissions; and to Nikon Australia for sponsoring this wonderful event.

Congratulations to all the overall, division, and category winners. I know firsthand how challenging it is to stay ahead in such a competitive field.

In the last two days, I was getting frustrated by the reflections. Then I stopped fighting them, accepted them, and eventually started embracing them. 🪞

Sometimes, the challenge becomes part of the picture.

And honestly, how can you not love having the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge as part of the backdrop? Two of Sydney’s most iconic landmarks, making the Padel Invitational 🏓 even more special.
