Meet the star of this session. Four legs, very photogenic, absolutely knew it.
This pup could actually pose, he genuinely looks like he's smiling right at the camera. When clients bring their fur babies along, it's always more fun, and honestly they often steal the show. And this session started as a rainy day, the kind people message me about wanting to reschedule. Then the sun slipped through the clouds and gave us the softest light going. Some of my favourite sessions are the ones that begin under a grey sky and completely surprise everyone.
So the next time the forecast looks a bit average, trust me on this one.

A newborn session can feel a little overwhelming for parents at the start.
Most walk in wondering how it will go. Whether the baby will sleep. Whether the sibling will want any part of it. Whether this was even the right week to book.
And then something loosens. The baby settles. The older one leans in. And for a little while, everyone is simply here, together, held still long enough to be seen. That is the photograph that matters.
If you are wondering when to book, there is no single right time for a newborn session. 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks or older, all are welcome. The sleepy, curled newborn days hold one kind of beauty. The first small smiles hold another. The wide, watchful eyes of an older baby hold something else again. Every stage is worth keeping.

I am opening newborn photo sessions at Muse Studios in North Sydney. Gentle, calm, unhurried, and always with care for how brief these early weeks really are.

A session with me isn't stand-in-a-row-and-smile.
I get everyone doing something real, walking the sand, chasing the water, and photograph what happens between you. Then I steer things gently so I still catch faces and the one where you're all together. Nobody has to know how to pose. You just show up and be together.
You leave with both: the honest moments and the portrait for the wall. And you're in them too, Mum, not just holding the camera.

Personal sessions are more than just a nice photo.
Conversations that make an hour disappear, especially if you're into the same book, music, style. By the time the shooting actually started, it often didn't feel like a photoshoot anymore. No posing, no performing, just being you, laughing, talking, being lost in thoughts.
This isn't about getting nice photos for the feed. It's about spending a couple of hours actually deign yourself, maybe for the first time in a long time.
That's reason enough.
