It definitely looked funnier in the moment. šŸ˜‚

But the photos??? šŸ”„šŸ“ø

Sometimes the moments that feel the least ā€œpicture perfectā€ end up creating the best frames.

Because sometimes getting the shot means moving furniture, chasing natural light, and turning whatever space we’re given into the perfect frame.

Whatever it takes. 🤌

Participation: 100%.

Sometimes getting the shot just means moving a few things out of frame… and having a groom who understands the assignment. No questions asked. Just straight to work. šŸ˜‚

10/10 teamwork. šŸ¤

Jan & Keith’s Sydney wedding was a beautiful reminder that the most meaningful celebrations don’t have to be the biggest or loudest. Their day was centred on what mattered most: making a covenant before God and celebrating with the people they love.

With rain falling that morning and portraits planned around Sydney Harbour, we were praying for a window. Just in time, the skies cleared into beautiful soft light, giving us the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House, textured clouds, and barely any crowds. Not what we planned, but somehow even better.

From the InterContinental Sydney to their reception at Wateredge at Campbell’s Stores, the entire day felt relaxed, intentional, and deeply personal. A beautiful Christian wedding filled with faith, gratitude, and some of Sydney’s most iconic views.

I’ve never really been a reader, but I’m trying to change that.

Right now I’m reading The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, and it’s challenging how I think about slowness.

Our culture treats slow like a bad word.

But intimacy with God isn’t something you rush.

Think Korean BBQ šŸ˜‚

Sit in that restaurant long enough and you’re walking out smelling like Korean BBQ.

I think there’s something similar about spending time with God.

Sit in His presence long enough, walk with Him long enough, and eventually you carry the fragrance of Jesus into the way you speak, love and treat people. āœļø

That kind of formation is slow.

And strangely, weddings have taught me something similar.

Hurry is rarely good for a wedding day.

That’s why I always encourage couples to build buffer and margin into their timeline.

Time to breathe.
Time for things to run late.
Time to pray.
Time to actually experience what’s happening.

You’ve waited a long time for this day.

Don’t rush through it. ā¤ļø

Posing an unmarried Christian couple is very different from posing a married couple.

At least, I believe it should be.

I’ve become more intentional about not assuming that every affectionate pose is appropriate for every season of a relationship. Something that feels completely natural for a married couple might cross a boundary an engaged couple has prayerfully chosen to protect.

And they shouldn’t have to awkwardly say ā€œnoā€ in the middle of their session.

That’s why I’m learning to have the conversation beforehand. I ask what kinds of affection feel comfortable, whether kissing is something they want photographed, and if there are any poses or types of touch they would rather avoid.

Not because I want to define their boundaries for them. Every couple is different.

I ask because I want to understand what they value—and serve them within it.

Protecting those boundaries doesn’t limit what we can create. It challenges me to capture their chemistry through laughter, movement, tenderness, personality and the way they naturally connect.

My job isn’t to make engagement look like marriage.

It’s to photograph this season honestly, beautifully and in a way that allows each couple to leave feeling fully respected.

Love celebrated. Culture honoured. Jesus at the centre. šŸ¤

There’s something beautiful about a wedding where everyone brings something to the celebration—through laughter, tradition, worship, and simply showing up with so much love. This is what it looks like when two families come together with joy. ✨
