When seeking the services of a photographer it's always wise to ensure you & the photographer are a good fit & that their style matches what you are trying to achieve with your commercial work, event or special memories.

We will take moments over the coming months to chat with Cath Forsyth to share some of the questions clients often ask and share some insights that she has experienced over 20 years in the industry.

What is your specialization or niche?

This is critical as to ensure you have a photographer that specializes in portraiture for your wedding day or family photos. To capture the emotion is a wonderful quality for a photographer to be able to capture.

What is your photography style?

Inquire about their artistic style & how they capture moments to see if it aligns with your vision. The first thing I endeavor to achieve is for my clients to feel comfortable even before leading up to the session. The photographer should be able to draw the best for images by ensuring the client is relaxed even for the most formal event.

Can I see some of your work or a portfolio?

This provides a realistic view of their work beyond highlights and helps you understand their ability to capture a full event. This to me is a non negotiable and at times follow up testimonials.

What is your experience with similar projects?

For specific events, like weddings, ask how many you've photographed to assess their experience with managing different situations and capturing key moments.

Pricing Structure

This is critical as no one likes unwelcome financial surprises. Always seek a quote and how this ties with the package options they will be providing.
