Havana is an interesting place, you can go from glitzy 50s and 60s to ruins in a matter of minutes. I stayed just north of China Town (not a very big China Town, blink and you'll miss it) in the mostly residential area, which had some amazing food finds if you ask the locals (don't pay US$10 for chicken and rice !). Overall an amazing city and very warm people once you get away from the main tourist zones.
