At Last years Ballarat Foto Biennale I was really impressed with the portraits by Platon and the cavalcade of world leaders he photographed. And also by the style of his close up wide angle work. So this is definitely "inspired" by that . But I can really see why my photography teachers many years ago impressed upon us the use of a suitable focal length lens for portraiture. I am not sure it is entirely flattering..Or perhaps I am kidding myself and it is.

Looks like we are having some website issues this morning.
Our apologies if you are trying to jump on and order school photos. There was an upgrade overnight that appears to have not gone well. Hopefully we will have it fixed for you ASAP.
Don’t stress about school photo orders..They don’t have to be in before photo day. However if you are after sibling photos please make sure your students have envelopes to hand in. That way we will know to take it.

A little heads up that we have Catchup afternoons on this Thursday 14th as well as Wednesday 20th and Friday 22nd for those students that missed school photos in Term 1 due to Covid or other reasons. Time is 2.00 pm until 4.00 pm but you do need to contact us and let us know you are attending.

Just confirming that we will be back at both campuses of Traralgon College the morning of Tuesday 22nd Feb to catch up on students that missed photos due to Covid or isolating. . Catch up days at the studio will be announced shortly.

Was great today to be out at Maffra Sec College photographing today and starting off the busy 2022 school photo season.

Looking forward to a shall we say smoother year than the last couple of years. A little note to those students and families that might miss photo day for Covid or Isolation reasons.
We will be offering our usual re-shoot opportunities here at the studio in Traralgon as well as attending some schools on site to catch students who missed. We will keep you informed both through the schools and here on our FB page.

As the year comes to a close at the studio, for me at least there is some time to visit some projects that have not got the attention they deserve.
So I had a wonderful time with the assistance of Leonie Macreadie playing and trying to create something within the Steampunk world. So thanks for your patience Leonie and I look forward to finishing off a couple of the other concepts.

And just like that 2020 has come to an end at John Ansell Photography. What a roller coaster. Have to say a huge THANKS especially to all our school clients for your patience and trust in us getting the job done, despite constant changes of rules and regulations. To the almost 6000 students, parents and staff who dealt with constant date changes 🙏. To our amazing bunch of photographers and assistants, Rosemary and I can't put into words our appreciation. And if I ever wonder why we do it then the note below from the Grade 6 students at St Mary's in Bairnsdale is the reason.

Merry Christmas everyone and we look forward to a happy and SAFE 2021.
