One of the first Astro shots I ever took whilst on a workshop with Astrophotography Workshops by Andrew. Highly recommended workshop. I have always had a fascination for space and I didn’t realise how capturing the heavens for the first time would lead me to where it has with astrophotography.

An early shot of the Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS). Taken at Umina Point at 4:45am with twilight just starting to lighten the sky. It was about 10 degrees above the horizon. the tail is showing well and may become brighter by the middle of October.
Shot with the Nikon Z9 and the 300mm f2.8VR lens at ISO800 and a 1.6-second exposure at f2.8.

The August Workshop was a great success. The weather was perfect, the skies were clear, and the group was great fun. The Friday night saw us visit the old Cemetery and an old rail bridge just outside Binnaway. Saturday was a drive into the National Park finishing at White Gum lookout where we were able to capture an Aurora. The Saturday night was all about the Paul Wild Observatory, capturing the Radio Dishes under the glorious Milky Way.
I will be arranging the workshop dates for 2025 in the next few weeks and there will be a surprise in store for the people attending. A private night at the Paul Wild Observatory, Just us, no one else.

What to do when the weather is crap? Reprocess some old images with new skills and tools in Pixinsight. Introducing my version of M8.
Shot with an EQ6-R, the 8" Quattro f4 scope, the ASI2600MC Pro camera and the IR cut filter. This is a combination of 70 frames at 300s each.
