Weddings are brill, not just for the vows, the kiss, celebrating your love with a bunch of your buds, but for the million tiny little moments that pop up throughout the day.

There'll be ones that stick in your memory, others that zip past in an instant but every now and then rise to the top of your thoughts.

My favourite thing about taking photos (aside from getting to hang out with a bunch or gorgeous folks on some spectacular days) is getting to try and capture as many of those moments as possible: The runway walk as everyone's getting ready, sneaking references to Heat (1995) into vows, the group crowded into the smoking area having an animated chat, the song that everyone shouted along to on the dancefloor, the little looks and moments you get to share with folks you love.
The kind of photos that are little anchors back to a moment, a look, a comment or a feeling - the things that make you excited just to flick through old photos, or make you smile when they pop back up.

Anyway, enjoy a bunch of moments I love, from Imogen and Joe's wedding back in April. A beautiful couple and a ridiculously fun evening (big fan of the emo dancefloor jams). ✨❤💃

I'm always very, very late with submissions for awards and competitions and bits and bobs. I'm a huge Bookmark Now, Forget and Get Stressed Later person.

Yesterday I managed to get my Bowness Photography Prize entry in at like 2pm, before the 5pm cut-off. This is one of the photos I entered, which I just adore, of my friend (and wonderful stylist), Emily-Rose.

We took this around Halloween, up in the Dandenong Ranges. What was planned as a foggy, spooky shoot ended up being pretty sunny, but we took some brilliant photos and I brought some of Lomography's purple-scale film with me (the film shifts greens to purple, which creates some very very cool results). We shot through the whole roll up in the hills, and I'm over the moon with how this shot came out. The trees and how they blossom outward from the centre, Emily-Rose's wonderful posing and the colours all just work together so nicely.

Competitions are always extremely competitive (but, god, the finalists' photos are always so spectacular), but it was nice putting together some images from the last year together under a little theme and putting them out there.

The theme I chose for these was 'the medium is the message' - three photos taken on different 35mm film stocks, where the analogue component is a big factor in how the final image came out.

I'll share the next few here soon for ya to take a gander at. ✨

When we were planning photos for Imogen and Joe's wedding day, one of the big things we had on the list was getting photos along Sydney Road.

The day went by in a blur, and we decided to do these photos towards the end of the night, when the dancefloor was going and everyone had enjoyed a shandy or two.

I'm so happy with these photos we snapped off in a few quick minutes, before Imogen politely asked if I could keep taking photos of them and their pals while they had a dart outside of the venue. Hell yeah I could.

This was such a lovely wedding and I'll have a few more piccos to share with y'all soon. ✨💃

Earlier this month, I photographed Imogen and Joe's amazing wedding in Brunswick.

They decided to start the day with a first look, surrounded by family and friends, before travelling into the ceremony together. After the first look, a couple-a smooches and a tear or two, they received a special surprise, from the Sydney Swans and Nike.

Both Imogen and Joe are huge fans of the Swans and Buddy Franklin, so the team at the Swans decided to get the couple a footy boot, signed by Buddy - an incredibly lovely surprise before the day got underway.

They then moseyed over to the Brunswick Mess Hall for a beautiful ceremony and a party with their nearest and dearest.

It was such an incredible day and I feel so privileged that I got to be there to capture it!!

(I also took a leaf out of the wonderful Rick Liston's book - if there's a big veil, hop on under it for a cute pic!)

Thanks for having me, Imogen and Joe!! Congratulations on a spectacular wedding!

📸 2021 was a little while back, so I figured now would be the perfect time to look back at just about every single photo I took during that strange and wonderful and cursed year.

📖 On Sunday I went through every photo folder from 2021 and popped my favourite shots into a couple of quick and easy little photobooks to share. I'd love it if ya had a gander and a flick through.

Had such a blast at Dan and Eve's wedding at The Lot last month!

Emilie Rosenberg : The Celebrant For You was an incredibly engaging and enthusiastic celebrant who put on a beautiful ceremony (and helped me wrangle a huge crowd of folks for a group photo)!

Will share a pic or two from the weddo with y'all soon! ❤️

I had the privilege of photographing Angus and Alejandra's wedding over the weekend in Healesville.

They held a ceremony on Angus' family's back verandah, with Alejandra's family tuning in to a Zoom broadcast from places around the world. Maria Pilar Aguilera Marriage Celebrant, presented every part of the beautiful ceremony in English and Spanish and read out a letter from Alejandra's mother, who couldn't be there in person. The day finished with food, cake and an afterparty at OKE Studio with a bunch of extra friends there to celebrate and boogie.

I went to school with Angus and reconnected a while ago, ahead of the wedding. At the end of the day, he told me that it made the day easier having a friend there to take photos, which was such lovely feedback after a (very) warm and busy day of photos.

This shot was taken at the front door of the family house - couldn't have picked a better spot for this intimate little photo. ✨

Happy Valentine's Day!

Seems like a good day to share this little portrait from my last shoot with my wonderful friend and stylist, Emily-Rose (instagram.com/finalgirlemroe + instagram.com/hyphenstyling, or visit Hyphen Styling).

This is one of the first shoots I've had with a new Lomography Petzval 80.5mm lens. It's a heavy, brassy, beautiful little thing, but the cool part of using it is that you can remove a plate inside the lens and replace it with another to create shapes in the out-of-focus areas of your image. In this one, I swapped the circular plate for a heart-shaped one and, well, it speaks for itself doesn't it?

Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely day and that good things are happening in your world. ❤

P.s. cheers Regent Theatre for the sweet lights 😘

I had the absolute pleasure of taking some cast headshots for Burwood Student Theatre Company (BuST Co) on the weekend, for their upcoming production - BuST Co. presents 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.

The team behind this have been working so hard to bring this to life for almost a year, and the cast are so wonderful in their roles. I had heaps of fun meeting them, taking some photos in-character and seeing them run through a scene.

The performances are taking place next week at the Fairfield Amphitheatre (outside, for some extra safety) and you'd be silly to miss it.

Congratulations to Jaz, having her graphic design and printing skills recognised by SprinterNews's Pro Print Magazine!

I got to take Jaz's portrait at one of my free portrait days at Tamale Studios in Northcote last year - where I managed to get about 13 portrait shoots knocked over in 12 hours. 😅

Hoping to tee up another studio day in the next few months, once the weather calms down. Would love to hear from ya here or at 1000 Portrait Project if you'd be keen on a free little portrait when the next one rolls around. ✨

This morning was such a lovely time for a quick photo or two in Warburton (and it'd be such a nice evening to take a dip in the river). Hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead. ✨

An unintentionally-moody shot from Fitzroy from the end of last year, shot on a gigantic and beautiful Pentax 6x7 medium format camera.

When I can get it serviced and learn how to use it properly (and get used to taking photos on a 2kg brick), I'll surely have some snazzy portraits to share here. 💃
