It is the silence I hear most at the moment. Sometimes it is so loud it is hard to listen to anything else.

If there is a god I don’t think he/she/whatever will forgive us or maybe they are just leaving us to it so one day down the track they can start again with a different species. After all they gave us chances, time and time and time again. Now whatever happens next, genocide with consent, data centres that will consume the earth, surveillance and control, weapons that vaporise is on us. God would have given up on most of us a long time ago.

We kept on saying there was nothing we could do, when there was everything we could do.
We just kept scrolling, sedating, ignoring, consuming and staying silent.

There was nothing we could do anyway. So we chose silence.
A deafening, horrible silence.

silence is perhaps
the loudest sound of all
louder than the drones that
mean the birds are never heard
louder than the bombs
that drown out the turning of the tide
louder than the jets dropping death
that silence overrides
louder than the lies
that scream of complicity and consent
silence is the loudest
the sound that will never die

My first Wiradjuri Country tea towels have arrived and will be available in store as soon as I open!!

Initially I have four designs - two from Wyalong (pastel skies over Wyalong and the Courthouse Museum) and two from West Wyalong (the Heesco Mural and Thom's Corner) and I hope to add to these down the track.

These make a lovely gift, and are a luxury souvenir. Australian-made from 100% organic Australian cotton. Featuring a custom belly band and measuring 66cm x 47cm. $35.00 each.

My friend Oday is trying to keep his family alive. Then he will do everything in his power to be reunited with them. But right now it is all about survival. He is also trying to be reunited with his fiancee. The challenges he faces are beyond most of our imaginings.

Most days I feel like I am going crazy. I will be pottering around in my little life, talking to Kevin and Rosie, taking photos of beautiful moments, planning a shop, sleeping under a roof, eating enough food and then I remember what is going on in the world and the cruel juxtaposition sometimes stops me in my tracks and creates an unfathomable ache in my chest. Then I continue with my little life, remind myself to breathe. And I continue.

Gaza is shrinking and the bombs keep falling.
The entire West Bank is being annexed.
Palestinian men, women and children in the West Bank are disappearing in the dead of the night.
Southern Lebanon is under attack with ancient sites being obliterated. There is talk of issuing evacuation orders for Beirut.
Thousands of Lebanese are dead with residential buildings, hospitals, ancient sites and refugee camps being relentlessly bombed.

Most people don’t care. It is complicated. It doesn’t concern them, and somewhere those same people are saying things like, “I am a good person.” “I am not racist”. “There is only so much I can deal with right now.” Somewhere someone is doing good deeds but ignoring the slaughter of "others" because you know, Muslims, Arabs, brown or black people….. I mean are they even human, they are not really like us are they?

“I am a good person.” Somewhere someone is saying that.

And just for s**ts and gigs, somewhere in Australia there are politicians saying $380 billion for used submarines is exactly what we planned to achieve. And somewhere else in Australia, people are believing that s**t.

Somewhere, there are people who are so filled with hatred of other people that they will allow anything to happen. Just as long as it is not them. Not just somewhere. Everywhere.

Somewhere.

And somewhere a politician is making a statement about social cohesion
And somewhere a feminist is saying all women matter
And somewhere a mother is talking about the sacredness of motherhood
And somewhere a journalist is using the term ceasefire to describe carnage
And somewhere a Christian is praying, “blessed be thy children”
And somewhere a world leader is releasing statements about diplomacy
And somewhere the word peace is being used to describe endless, brutal slaughter
Somewhere.
