This week one of Oday’s cousins was martyred. This was after 15 years in captivity. 4 years after captivity after his fiancee was waiting for him for the duration he was killed. As Oday says, “how cruel it is that joy comes so late.”

My friend Oday desperately needs help to help his family survive.

The Fitzroy Island Jetty and time to start heading home.

I have been lucky enough to have had a very treasured break with family in a very special part of the world. Time to start heading home. I can't wait to see Kevin and Rosie and get back to my very new home of West Wyalong and back to my my shop, My Notes From Gallery, Studio, & Store.

I am very excited about getting the shop officially open and to start addressing the swirling hotpot of ideas in my head.

I am so very grateful and so very aware of how fortunate and lucky I am. What never left my mind is how we live in a world where some of us have so much and others have to fight so desperately for their mere existence.

It is not remotely fair or right or just. And the only way we can address the imbalance is if those of us who have so much fight for those of us who have so little. That was my overriding holiday thought.

Whenever I hear another person say, “what can one person do anyway?” or “there is nothing I can do that will make a difference”, or “I can’t do much that matters”, I think of Mother Nature. She knows. She always has. The smallest things can make a difference. A huge difference. And a whole lot of small things working together can do huge things, they can change the world as we know it. Mother Nature knows. She always has been smarter than us.

It is not a matter of can’t. It is a matter of not wanting to. And there is a huge difference between not being able to and not wanting to do something.

The grain of sand
does not ask
how it may
change the shore,
the slightest breath,
becomes the wind
and blows forevermore.
The hummingbird
does not question
it’s part in Mother Nature’s symphony,
and the ripple on the surface
does not say
I cannot change the sea.
The rivulet never
doubts that it can
change the boulder’s core,
and the breath of wind
has always known
it can become
a fearsome roar.
