Country Moments Captured

Country Moments Captured Sharing the science, history and spirit of the Flinders Ranges, South Australia with beautiful, high quality images for visitors and the curious.

Living and working in this outback wilderness is a rich blessing. We live on an amazing planet. It is often not possible to experience the beauty around us when we are overwhelmed by the struggle to survive. Our interest in our country helps us. Our hobby has become an interest to others for many reasons. We are delighted to share with any who are interested by producing these images here, and on

various products. We hope this helps refresh our visitors memories and enlivens a moment in the viewer's day with a glimpse of beauty and wonder. Tim and Marg Tyler.

Beautiful walking in with the tide. The water seemed to be following the setting sun. I still don't understand tides though. Is the land moving in to the sea or is the sea moving over the land?

Mount Isa. 22,000 population but still feels very, very Outback. Most polluted town in Australia, reputedly. Lol, guess it depends which way the wind is blowing. No mistaking a genuine outback sunset though.

Amazing to have an up close look at these incredible creatures. Their tails are raspy but their body fur is as soft and luxurious as mink. So much so their skins were sold as a mink substitute! The Male spur is extremely venomous with a poison causing extreme pain, swelling and tissue damage. There is no antivenom and effects persist for as long as 18 years! They have great personality but not always cute, usually only one of a platypus litter will survive as the Male will kill all but one.
