Golden light spilling over the rugged coastline in Walkerville.

If you are on your way to Wilson’s Prom it’s an interesting place to drop into and shoot sunrise.

I used to do a lot of bird photography, and recently I thought it was time to pick it up again. This was one of my first attempts after a break, and I couldn’t have asked for a more rewarding moment.

Yes, the gull’s wings are cut off — a little flaw in the framing — but that’s part of the challenge (and fun) of bird photography. What mattered most to me was capturing the timing, the light, and the feeling of this bird flying straight towards me.

And the last morning in the Prom was a frosty one, with and .

It was freezing cold, with a temperature that was barely above freezing, and I had to bundle up just to stay warm. But the cold was worth it, because the scenery was just breathtaking. There was some nice fog around, and the sunrise gave us some beautiful light, casting a golden glow over the entire scene. It was the perfect way to cap off our time in the Prom.

A couple of weeks ago I had an amazing weekend away with my photography friends Julie Cook and Josephine Cole at The Prom (Wilsons Promontory National Park).

We took lots of photos, shared plenty of laughs, and soaked in the beauty of this incredible place.

Here are a few shots from the first day, more to come soon!

A couple of years ago, when I visited family and friends in The Netherlands, my sister and I planned a week-long trip to the Algarve. We explored Faro, the capital of the region, where history meets coastal beauty. With its cobbled streets, historic charm, and a picturesque marina, there were endless photo opportunities—this is one of them!
