It's been a while since I've popped on here. Recovery from major surgery has been a little bit of a hurdle. But this past week I feel like I have turned a corner and this afternoon I finally sat down to go through the photos that I took of G a couple of months back. And oh my, have I missed this. The adrenaline and excitement when you see your pics come to life. There is nothing like it and it's so good to be slowly making my way back.

I love that she loves to come and spend time together just her and I, a flowy dress and the magic that happens when she steps in front of the camera. I may be biased, but I think she is pretty amazing.

And let's just take a moment to appreciate how she curls her own hair ;)

I found this photo a few weeks back while I was going back through the archives. I remember that day. The last of that golden light flickering through the trees. Thinking back about that time, when G and I used to head out on our little adventures. I smiled as I thought back at how we loved to explore together. Fast forward to now and never did I think in a million years we would be where we are today. Yesterday we headed out for a couple of hours to go shopping, a new kind of adventure. I wanted her opinion on my new dress purchase and I also wanted to hang with her and see what her likes and dislikes were at 13. She helped me pick a dress or two. I found out what she liked and what she didn't. We were in a new space and it felt so sweet. As the day closed to an end, she said to me "Mum, I really liked going out with you today, we should do that more often". To which I replied, "me too bub". I have no idea where our adventures will take us in the next ten years. But for now, we are right where we need to be 💕

The few from here....
As so many of you would know already, my journey over the last four weeks has been completely overwhelming. I'm posting this here as I finally have a little energy to share and for my amazing clients that have had to wait for their photos, I couldn't be more humbled by your understanding. You are my priority when I can get back behind the PC. To my clients that were scheduled and have had to make other arrangements I am so grateful to have a tribe to be able to pick up where I have left them. Thank you for your understanding. You see a month ago after losing my appetite it was discovered that I had a growth in my bile duct and well long story short, I have had over half of my liver removed and a bile duct due to a growth that was found. After 19 days in hospital I'm now at home on the mend. I have a village around and I am so grateful for everyone that has reached out. But for now, I'm learning to eat again. Which is so bloody hard, trying to hold up my mental health and build strength to get my life back. For some reason, we've been thrown this challenge and it's our turn. Thank you to all for your understanding and support 💕

Such a privilege to be a part of this fantastic event. Friday night... There were tears, laughter, loads of dancing and a fun night had by all. To the Stars of the Border Dance For Cancer team, the dancers, the teachers and all who dedicated their time to this event. You guys should all be super proud. Congratulations to all.

How gorgeous is this baby girl. I promised her Mumma a sneak peak a couple of weeks ago now. Eeeeek! I am currently working through their gallery of photos and I couldn't help but pause for a moment to share this cute little face with you. I mean, how adorable is she!

Tween 2.
Last week this little guy hit the double figures. When I asked him what he wanted to do for his 10 year old photos, he replied with "Do we have too, they aren't fun"
Of course we do! Sorry bud, ummm your ma is a photographer and it's just a given.
"Ok if I have to, but I only want to do inside ones, I don't want anyone to see", he moaned. Sure thing bud. We can do that.
He is self conscious, yet confident with the biggest heart. He doesn't like to break rules and hates being bored!
He wears his heart on his sleeve, but yet still buries his emotions deep down. If that makes any sense. He has his Dad's wit and humour and loves nothing more than spending time with his family.
He is my baby and part of me wants to keep that little giggle bottled up and hold onto those big koala bear hugs that he gives. But I am also excited to watch him grown and see just what kinda footprint he decides to leave in this world.
And so the April Birthday's begin!

Day 17: Selfie

Selfie.

Courage, Procrastination.... Just a few words that come to mind with day 17's photo. I know I should do it more often, get comfortable with being uncomfortable, but this topic did teach me a thing or two about sometimes what you think will look ok in camera doesn't. The way you hang your head, or cross your legs, the angle of your shoulders. I think I took about 100 photos to come out with only a few keepers. But I learnt to use the remote, I tested a new location and I got in front of the lens.

When we unwrapped this delivery last week, there were smiles all round. Smiles for the memories and smiles for the family in the memories. You see, for them to see themselves in print with some of their favs was pretty special and what's even more special is the place it will be hung.

Their present for their Baka. All the grand kiddies together 💕

Whilst I don't traditionally share a lot of events with you guys, I'm going to make an exception. You see, I was introduced to this amazing organisation and it's people last year. I captured their moments of vulnerability and excitement. Vulnerability for putting themselves out there and excitement for what lies ahead.

To hear their stories and the reasons for participating is so heartfelt.
The money they raise and what it goes to is extraordinary to say the least.
