Round 9 of the 2026 iz dun and dusted! The Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440 was yet another mega event at the and I have to say that this track delivers! Might not be the best but for the paying public, the racetrack action can be seen from almost anywhere. I had good conversations with plenty of people on the hill, all enjoying themselves.
I do need to mention that I received a present on Sunday that might be a "game changer" for .......... almost everyone recognizes me for the iconic trademark white bucket hat that I have been wearing for YEARS..... supplied me with a new XL Bucket hat! So, lookout for that at the Bend. Just say'N ;-)

Anywayz, here are a few images from the weekend at QR for you to enjoy.

Round 9 of the Supercars 2026 series finalized the Sprint Cup that went down to the last race on Sunday with a win by Broc Feeney. Plenty of excited celebrations by the Red Bull Ampol Racing team and some impressive burnouts by Broc.

R8 of the 2026 was held at Wanneroo Raceway (MotorMall Raceway) under clear skies and some amazing sunrise and sunsets! Lots of action on and off track and a very good & passionate crowd crammed in at the 2.41km & 7 turns of tuff surface and colorful sand to frame the track.
Here are a few photos for you from the weekend to enjoy :-)

Well, that's Townsville dun and dusted for another year! Round 6 of the nti Townsville 500 saw 3 different winners and the dominant Ford Mustangz over the whole event. The weather is always warm and welcoming at this time of year and us Victorians get to enjoy the warmth. I am so lucky to spend my time here with Tricia & Andrew Gricks - thank you both 😍

Here are a few photos to check out from the weekends racing - enjoy.

Since the kick-off of the Townsville 500 way back in 2009, I have been VERY fortunate to have covered almost the lot (except for that Covid19 thingy), including the back2back 2021 events (The first was the NTI Townsville 500 that was followed a week later by the WD-40 Townsville SuperSprint on the 17-18 July). And so 2026 is the 16th year for me and special THANK YOU to Andrew & Trisha Gricks for putting up with me all this time!

Anywayz, as part of a look back from 2018-2022, here's some photos of younger faces & older cars and the odd "retirement" announcement. ENJOY

Phew! Darwin Supercars you did it again AND even threw in a wet(ish) Friday - then top-end dry season kicked back in! Round 6 of the 2026 Supercars season - the betr Darwin Triple Crown at Hidden Valley Raceway again produced great racing, heat, sun, plenty of characters and a special thanks to the amazing volunteers who come from all over the country to underpin this Darwin Supercars and all race events!

Here are a few photos from the event and if you haven't been, put this event on your bucket list for 2027 to visit Darwin but also there is the promise of a night race! Stay tuned.

OK. So I been sitting at my laptop and looking at some more Darwin photos (screensavers) and got just a few to put up here. The Darwin Supercars round from Hidden Valley Raceway always throws up some eclectic sights. We have been fortunate to have had lots of different support categories share the racetrack and the dragstip with NDRC - National Drag Racing Championship. YEP, I'm a petrol-head and have enjoyed them ALL, as well as the occasional wildlife, fire and aircraft.

Here are a few dating back to 2011 with John Bowe up to last years event.

With Darwin Supercars as our next stop, one of the (other) great things about heading up north to the N.T. warmth and Supercars is the guaranteed magnificent sunrises and sunsets!

It takes a LOT to convince a team, and even more salesmanship to convince a driver to get up early for a sunrise shot at Hidden Valley Raceway, but once they get there and see what that time of the morning looks like, its mega! And the teams and drivers agree that getting to the track for just one day at 6am to get set up is worth it. The silence, then the glow at the end of the main straight, followed by the cresting of the sun over the horizon is special. A sunrise is always guaranteed but not always a great one but hey, that's outa my control ;-)

Here are a few photos from both ends of the day - of sunsets at Mindil Beach and Cullen Bay and sunrises at the Hidden Valley track; from as far back as 2004 thru to 2025.

Enjoy
