I finally caved on the Retropia lens and I’m quite thrilled! It’s made from a disposable camera lens - soft focus, nostalgic and imperfect… very me!!!

I love my film camera but with two little boys who never stop moving, I wanted something lightweight that I could shoot video on too. This is so light and I can actually take it out with the boys without feeling like I’m juggling everything at once.

These are some of the first shots… a little walk along our local creek. The soft focus and colours give a fairytale feel which I think makes for the most beautiful childhood memory.

No surprises that the little video is my favourite. “Nushrooms” 🍄

Don’t just bring the kids. Bring Nan. Bring Pop. One day, these will be the photos that you reach for.

This is me as a baby, with my mum and her Nan.

It’s a reminder that the photos we take aren’t just for us now. They’re for the people who will look back one day and see not just themselves, but the people who loved them most.

This is my nudge to invite the grandparents along to our session too.

I don’t make you look at the camera because love, laughter and connection don’t happen on cue. They happen when you are present with one another. The little things you almost don’t notice… until you see them again 📷🎥

I find the ache that comes with watching them grow hard to put into words.

There’s pride, there’s joy, there’s gratitude, and it’s all tangled together with an enormous and overwhelming resistance to how fast it’s moving.

Because you remember holding them when they fit completely in your arms… and somehow you’re here now, watching them become themselves in real time.

I don’t think we ever fully let go of the versions of them we’ve already loved. We just learn to carry them all at once, the baby, the toddler, the little boy, while standing right beside who they’re becoming next.

Birthdays bring up big feelings for a sentimental soul.

You are 5, and in so many ways, so am I.
Happy Birthday my love.

I would choose every version again.
