I've finally finished editing Saturday's Essendon District Football League Men's Division 1 Grand Finals which were held at Coburg City Oval and a gallery is available where images will be available to purchase for only $15ea.

First up was the 18.5 grand final between West Coburg Football Club (11.9.75) def by Avondale Heights Football Club (10.5.65)

The Reserves were next, and it was West Coburg (15.14.104) d Moonee Valley FC (7.6.48).

And last of all, to wrap up the Triple Burger - West Coburg (17.21.123) d Oak Park Football Club (13.7.85)

All three games had amazing moments and key points that determined the outcomes of each match. I've loved shooting division one games all year, as it's probably been one of the most competitive leagues in Victoria and for West Coburg to get a premiership after so many close calls in recent years, I'm sure it was a celebration never to be forgotten at Shore Reserve and a massive congratulations to an amazing coach Cole Harvey for getting the job done!!

The weekend just past saw hosting the 2026 Men's Division 2 Senior Grand Finals played between who progressed to the grand final undefeated for the season and who struggled early on in the season with injuries to key players and just snuck into the final four with a win in the final round of the season.

This game had everything, including some crazy weather, but against all adversity and a scoreboard deficit at the final break, Westy got up for an amazing one point victory, to break a 42 year premiership drought and to notch a second senior grand final victory this season to go along with their women's side.

Congratulations to Westmeadows on an amazing season for your club and I can't wait to see what you guys can bring in the higher division next season!!

Another Grand Final and another gallery as it's now time for the Essendon District Football League Men's Division 2 Reserves which featured Coburg Districts Football Club against Westmeadows Football Club.

Districts and Westmeadows were only separated by a game at the end of the season, and their previous meeting was in the qualifying final were the Tigers got the chocolates with a solid 5 goal victory.

In the first quarter, Districts got the jump heading into the first break with a 10-point lead, but the second term saw both teams scoring freely as and the scores were 38-36 in Coburgs favour.

The third quarter once again saw Districts get the jump, and this time it was a lead of 28 points that set up the game, and while Westmeadows never gave up, with numerous entries into their forward 50, the solid defensive efforts of Coburg Districts saw them lifting the 2026 premiership cup and going back to back.

Congratulations to Coburg Districts on an amazing season and a great win in this year's Men's Division 2 Reserves Grand Final.

Yesterday was a massive day at Windy Hill for the 2026 Essendon District Football League men's div 2 grand finals. First up though were the 18.5 boys as Sunbury Kangaroos FNC took on Roxburgh Park Football Netball Club

The kangaroos went in slight favourites having finished season three games clear on top of the ladder, but in their most recent clash, Roxy came away with a 5 point win in their qualifying final.

This game had it all - physicality, intensity, high skills in tricky conditions, and sheer desperation in the final moments in the game.

The first quarter saw a one point differential as Roxy held onto a slim lead and they were able to extend it to 9 points at the major break. Wet and windy conditions didn't seem to affect either team, as the final break saw the kangaroos claw two points closer.

The final quarter was an absolute arm wrestle as Sunbury got to within a point mid way through the term, and although the Kangaroos had numerous forward 50 entries, Roxy were able to hold on to win the 2026 premiership by one point in a classic match for the ages.

Congratulations to Roxy for an amazing grand final victory and to Sunbury for what has been a very successful season, even if you just fell short at the final hurdle.

Tomorrow is the day, when the 2026 Essendon District Football League Men's Division 2 grand final hits Windy Hill. Both teams have arrived into the grand final via very different paths - Coburg Districts Football Club have gone through the season with a flawless 18-0 record while Westmeadows Football Club snuck into the top four on percentage after a slow start to the season.

In their first meeting in round 8, Districts got the win by 10 points, while round 17 saw the same result, but Westmeadows got 2 points closer, going down by only 8 points.

Both teams are essentially at full strength and match up well against each other and if past meetings have any relevance in tomorrow's game, this should be a game you should get down to watch, no matter who you support!

I can't wait to be behind the camera to capture the special moments that are involved in any grand final!

Hi everyone out there in the world of Essendon District Football League. I know it's a bit later than normal, but I've finally finished editing all three games from the weekend's Women's Premier Division Grand Finals held at Windy Hill.

All three games had amazingly memorable moments and were some of the best quality games of women's footy I've ever had the opportunity to watch, let alone photograph. So, thanks to all the amazing athletes for putting on such a performance.

To all the teams, congratulations on having amazing years to have made it into the grand finals, and to those teams who walked away with the premiership cup - congratulations and I hope you've all had an awesome time celebrating such an achievement.

On Saturday I had a day off, after the change of date for the women's premier division Grand Finals. So what did I end up doing? I headed to Kings Park Reserve to shoot more Essendon District Football League footy!

Three games were played:

18.5 Div 1 Preliminary Final:

Moonee Valley FC (5.6.36) def by West Coburg Football Club (6.5.41)
This game was hotly contested across the four quarters, but it was Valley who got out of the gates with a 3 goal break at quarter time. Whatever was in the burgers eaten at quarter time, West Coburg came out firing, scoring 3 goals quickly on the second term and then taking the lead by the third term break. From there it was an arm wrestle and the Burgers managed a 5 points win.

Mens Div 1 Reserves Preliminary Final

West Coburg Football Club (15.13.103) d Moonee Valley FC (5.5.35)
This match was tight with scores level at 33 a piece at half time, but once again with burgers on the menu at half time, West Coburg came out firing, kicking 10 goals while restricting the Valley to only 2 points going on to win by 68 points.

Mens Div 1 Preliminary Final

West Coburg Football Club (20.14.134) d Oak Park Football Club (9.8.62)

This was touted to be a classic in the making, but West Coburg had other ideas, dominating all facets of play across the four quarters, while defensively shutting down Oak Parks normal silky transition play, while being lethal in front of goal themselves winning by a massive 72 points.

Well done to West Coburg for winning all three games across the day and showing they are a club that really has their teams performing at the right time of year!

As I sit in front of the laptop to continue editing images from yesterday's 2026 Essendon District FL Women's Premier Division Grand Finals - I come across this image I deliberately exposed while sitting in the shadows of the stands at Windy Hill. It's a tad different to the usual action shot I capture, but I am really happy with how it turned out.

I just received an email....

It was announcing that out of the 5 photos I entered into the International Photography Awards I was awarded second place for the image depicting Melbourne Vixens GF celebrations after their 2025 victory against the West Coast Fever.

Thank you to Netball Scoop for giving me the opportunity to photograph such an amazing sport and one I truly love to play, watch and shoot.

I was also awarded three honourable mentions for 'Stan the Man's, 'Light Speed Ironman' and 'Out of the Fire and into the Light'.

Now all I need to do is somehow save up some money to afford flights to Athens so I can attend the awards ceremony and the opening of the IPA exhibition.

I'm still in shock at this, as I honestly didn't expect any of my work to be recognised like this....but it's pretty cool all the same!!

Thanks IPA for the opportunity to show my work to the world.
