Presented here is a recent project that holds special significance for us as it features a cherished traditional Bosnian dish, the beloved Bosnian pita. Rooted in Ottoman cuisine, this pastry is a culinary icon in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as neighboring countries like Croatia, Serbia, and Albania. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, pita is a filled pastry, traditionally spiral-rolled and cut into sections for serving, evolving into a proud gem of Bosnian national cuisine with diverse regional variations. Common fillings include meat, cottage cheese, spinach, and potatoes, encased in handmade dough stretched into a delicate, translucent pastry. Enjoyed throughout the day, pita holds particular popularity as a street food in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Here we put spotlight on "sirnica", the cheese filling variation.
