Size and Configuration
The Portugal visa photo size must be 35 mm in width and 45 mm in height. Your entire face, starting from the top of your head to the bottom of your chin, must be visible— around 70% to 80% of the picture must be of your head and shoulders. You must also be at the center of the picture and an appropriate distance from the camera.

Facial Expression
When you sit down to take your photo for a Portuguese visa, you need to stare directly at the camera and keep your head straight. Do not lean sideways or tilt your head at an angle— look straight at the camera. You must keep a neutral facial expression, without smiling or frowning, with open eyes and a closed mouth.

Photo Quality
The visa photo for Portugal must be of great quality with a printing resolution of at least 600 dpi. You must make sure that the picture is clear, focused, and not blurry, and that your natural skin tone is visible and not discolored. You also must make sure that there are no creases or scratches on the photo.

Lighting and Background
The lighting of your Portugal visa photo must be ideal, not too bright and not too dim. There mustn’t be any shadows across your face or in the photo’s background. Ideally, the background should be a plain neutral gray color which contrasts the face and the hair of the subject in the photo. You must ensure that the background does not have bold or dark colors or patterns.

Clothing
Try to wear plain-colored clothing when you take your Portugal visa photo so as not to create contrast in the picture. Additionally, headgear such as bandanas, hats, and scarves are not permissible unless they are worn for religious purposes. Even in the case of religious coverage, your face must be visible. Additionally, you cannot wear sunglasses when you take your photo, and if you have prescription glasses, you must ensure that the frames do not obstruct your eyes, create overshadows, or reflect the lenses.
