Many years ago, Debendranath Karmakar left Bangladesh due to old age and moved to a city in India to live with his younger son. Since then, he has never returned.
Yet the old village room still seems to quietly wait for him. The neglected mosquito net, the dust-covered toothbrush, and the old comb resting on a wooden shelf still carry the silent traces of his absence.
Day after day, year after year, the room remains a quiet witness to a life suddenly left behind. It feels as though he has only stepped outside for a moment and at any time, he may return, open the door once again, and bring life back to the long-silent room.

The fire broke out at Kolmilota Kitchen Market, Bijoy Sarani, around 5:00 AM at dawn. After receiving the news, three units of the Fire Service initially rushed to the scene and began efforts to bring the blaze under control. Later, seven additional units joined them in the operation. After nearly three hours of joint efforts, the fire was brought under control.
The incident caused extensive damage as goods belonging to several traders in the market were burned. Many shopkeepers were seen standing in front of their destroyed stalls, breaking down in despair and tears after losing their livelihoods. However, no casualties have been reported in the incident.
