The Invisible Thread

We build our lives in centimeters, tracing the familiar lines of a routine, convincing ourselves we belong to the destinations we choose. But there is a specific time of year when the air changes—when the pull becomes too heavy to ignore.

Homecoming isn't just a direction on a map. It’s a return to ourselves.

The Eternal One

••𝗚𝗨𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗗••

There is a word fishermen’s children learn before they learn to read: “শুঁটকি-Dried fish.“ Preservation by surrender — letting the sea’s catch hang open under the sky until all softness is gone, until only the essential remains.
That is what this coast does to its people too.
GUTTED was never just about fish.
To gut something is to hollow it out — to reach inside and remove what cannot survive the long journey. But gutting is also how you preserve. How you make something last. The communities photographed here — along the dried fish yards of coastal Bangladesh — have been gutted by poverty, by tide, by time. And yet they remain. Hanging on. Hardened. Essential.
The woman in green moves through the racks like she is walking through a cathedral of her own . She is both worker and warden. The sea provided. She arranges its offering.
The old man holds the fish outward like a fisherman-priest presenting an offering, his face framed by the very harvest that has shaped every line on it. His eyes do not ask for pity. They simply state — this is what a life looks like when it has been lived in full.
And then the boys. Perhaps the most gutting frame of all. Young enough to still smile while sorting fish with bare hands. Old enough to already be inside the cycle. The sea does not wait for childhood to end before it asks for labour.
The final image — fish heads hanging downward, eyes still open, still watching — is the series looking back at you. Every mouth slightly open. Every eye hollow and glassed.
Who is really being preserved here? Who is being dried out by the sun?

GUTTED is about the sea as author. About how a coastline writes its people — their posture, their silence, their early mornings and salted skin. About craft that has no gallery, no applause, only the next tide. About the dignity that lives not in comfort, but in continuation.
The sea took everything soft from these lives long ago.
What remains is real.

🆅🅾🅻🆄🅼🅴 -2

Where the Sangu narrows into canyon and shadow, the river does not invite — it summons. Every journey to Debotakhum begins here, at the mercy of the current. The Sangu has never been a backdrop for these communities. It is the floor beneath their feet, the source in their hands, the reason they are here at all. When the dry season pulls the river back, the exposed shallows become the village’s second street — a place where the day’s work and the water’s rhythm are one and the same.

Some faces hold the entire history of a river. He has known the Sangu through its floods and its silences, its generosity and its indifference . The boatmen of the Sangu do not romanticize the water. They read it, negotiate with it, and move through it the way one moves through any enduring relationship — carefully, and with respect. Life in the villages along the Sangu does not pause for the unfamiliar. It continues, as it always has, on its own terms and at its own pace. She has not yet learned the name of what surrounds her. But the river is already shaping her — the way it has shaped everyone who has ever been born within sound of its current.

From above, the settlement looks small against the hills. But the Sangu does not measure its people by scale. It measures them by how long they have stayed.

Some places show us beauty.
Some places show us character.
Bandarban shows us both

The hard landscape shapes it people where the beauty not only lies in the landscape but also in the life of her people.
Strength lives in hands that work without applause.
In patience that rises without complaint.
In every steps taken to lead a life .
In childhood that blooms even where life is heavy.

This is Bandarban ‚ the Raw beauty of Bangladesh
Life thrives here in the fold of the mountains where life and nature are connected by sangu.

Announcement 📢📣:

They say a photograph is just a moment frozen in time. But for me, it’s always been about the story hiding behind the silence.

For the longest time, I’ve wanted to see if a camera could capture the same depth that many bangla literature had captured with their pens. There is something about our heritage that feels like a living, breathing story.

In the next episode of চিত্রবৃত্ত , I’m not just taking portraits. I’m trying to portray the emotions we often read about but rarely see in our daily lives .
