đ¨ Heads up: Microsoft is investigating a critical SSD issue linked to Windows 11 KB5063878.
The latest cumulative update for Windows 11 24H2 (Build 26100.4946) has triggered reports of SSD data corruption and drive disappearance.
đ Symptoms include:
SSD showing as RAW or disappearing from File Explorer and BIOS
File Explorer crashes
I/O errors
SMART data unreadable
Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and is working with partners like Phison, though early findings suggest the problem is not brand-specific and originates from the Windows update itself.
đ The bug seems to occur when:
SSD is more than 60% full
Continuous write operations exceed ~50GB
đ ī¸ Recovery is possible in some cases (e.g., reboot, partition repair), but data loss is a real risk. Uninstalling the update may not reverse the damage once triggered.
