Changing The Way Your Guests Party With a Photo Booth

You can’t expect to go to any big gathering – be it a wedding, birthday party, fan convention, or some other event – without expecting to take home some great memories. Photographs have long been the best way to record these memories. In this day of camera phones and Instagram, one would think that photo booths – the kind you still occasionally see in shopping malls and pizza arcades – are obsolete and just too much hassle for a single event. Don’t be so sure about that.

Even with the ability to instantly take a picture and post it on Facebook for the world to see, professional event photography remains a lucrative industry. Some businesses even create special photo booths with weddings and similar events in mind.

Iconic Flinders Street Station Photo Booth May Soon Develop Its Last Print
Metro Trains Melbourne has asked the booth’s octogenarian owner to find a new site after more than 50 years at the station.

The iconic black-and-white photo booth at Flinders Street Station may be on the cusp of developing its last three-framed print. The photo booth has been operating at the station for 56 years – its current owner, Alan Adler, bought it 46 years ago with his wife Loraine.

In the past few days Adler put up a handwritten sign on his machine with a simple message, “Please use this photo booth now. After May 23, this machine will no longer be here.” Some of the photos next to the sign are test prints of Adler as a younger man.

“I do not want to leave.”

Airport Photo Booth At McCarran Airport On Tuesday
Those traveling through McCarran International Airport on Tuesday can take and print photos from a holiday photo booth.

LAS VEGAS, NV - If you're doing some holiday traveling to or from Las Vegas on Tuesday, stop by Terminal 1 at McCarran International Airport and spread some cheer.

The photo booth, set up by HMSHost, will be setup in the Terminal 1 baggage claim area from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19. If you choose to take part you'll be able to print a 4x6 inch photo, or you can share them through email.

HMSHost is offering a 15 percent discount at all of its participating restaurants if you stop by the photo booth, and they're offering a $100 gift card for those who take part in a social media campaign.

Those traveling through McCarran International Airport on Tuesday can take and print photos from a holiday photo booth.

Gifyyy Animated Gif Photo Booth: A Kickstarter Success Story
Some of the most interesting innovations in in photography are happening on Kickstarter. While many of these innovations are happening around the edges of the world of photography and can be very specific, they are ideas that might never had seen the light of day if it weren’t for the generosity of groups of small investors. Why Photo Booth Rentals Are Surging In An Age Of Instagram

The old-fashioned photo booth shouldn’t even exist in an age of Snapchat and Instagram. Why pay for grainy mugshot-style selfies with questionable lighting when you can filter, fade and tilt-shift your pics for free and post them to the world? And yet: the photo booth resurgence.

The automated selfie-taker has been around almost a century and was popular from the get-go. An enterprising Russian immigrant to New York named Anatol Josepho introduced the first booth on Broadway in 1925, and 280,000 people used it during its first six months. Josepho sold the invention for a million dollars two years later while continuing to make royalties on sales of the Photomaton, as he called it.
