Abandoned airport / Tempelhof Flughafen - Germany, 2015.

One of my final visits before the 5 year break began. It was a guided and payed tour, but nevertheless it was a great experience to visit this place.

Abandoned chateau - France, 2012.

This chateau was built for one of the mistresses of the French king Louis XVI. It is good to be the king. Or the king's mistress... Too bad this lovely place is full of graffiti by now.. Not to mention the collapsing roof and wing of the chateau...

Not much to see in this small town hospital. Local youth vandalized almost everything, leaving nothing to photograph. Except for this one x-ray room.

2 beautiful 19th century hearses were left behind here...

One of the rare special edits I made. But it seemed to suit the image well. What do you think? More of this kind of treatments? Or not?

Abandoned limestone quarry - The Netherlands, 2010.

One of 'the lost archives'. Due to an accident with the hard disk containing all my early days work up to July 2011, I lost almost every shot of a 6 year period. This one is one of the few remaining shots of that era. A 5 hour subterranean exploration with only flashlights and gas lanterns, through centuries of limestone mining.

All of the delvers and visitors and residents of these caves, carved their names and dates into the soft limestone. You can find writings dating back to the 14th and 15th century back there. Nowadays a lot of these caves have been destroyed by the ever expanding, active limestone quarry of the ENCI corporation. Sad but true...

Probably Belgium's most famous abandoned cooling tower.
This one was also featured in the first season of National Geographics 'Abandoned engineering', if I'm not mistaking.

Abandoned mental hospital - Italy, 2014.

Roaming through the many corridors of this old mental hospital, the rising sun decided to turn one of the corridors into gold.. This was such a beautiful place, that has known so many horrors.. But still, it wouldn't be a punishment to visit this place once more. Not at all...
