Thanks to everyone that came to take a look at our photo expo.

We're really happy with how everything turned out. We went for a somber experience in an exceptional location. Fort 8 is out of service for over 50 years now. It's a place where time stands still. We felt really lucky that we got the chance to do our expo there. We chose for photos of the forts and photos that match the surreal atmosphere.

We were happy but that doens’t mean anyone else would enjoy it too. Luckily we go nothing but good to great comments.

Thanks again for everyone that was a part of it.

Dit en volgend weekend kan je nog komen kijken naar de foto-expo van Luc Somers en mezelf.

We zijn vertrokken van de forten rond Antwerpen en bouwen daar op verder. We brengen foto's bijeen die gaan over de thema's tijdelijkheid, vergankelijkheid en transitie.

In de weekends van 11 en 18 oktober, zaterdag en zondag, telkens van 13u tot 18u. De foto-expo is te bekijken in het binnenfort van Fort 8 (Hoboken, Antwerpen).

Liminal Spaces is een gezamenlijk fotoproject van Tijs Hostyn en Luc Somers voor Inter_Linie. We zijn beiden gefascineerd door de unieke atmosfeer van de
forten en de voortdurende transformatie van de ruimten en hun omgeving. In deze expo brengen we beelden die we maakten in verschillende forten samen met ander werk dat aansluit bij de thema’s van vergankelijkheid, tijdelijkheid en transitie.

I visited Prague for work in January. I had a half day in Prague before I took my flight home. I had one location I wanted to visit, but not much else planned. I usually don't have much succes when I shoot like this. I came across this interesting scene. I quickly snapped a few photos while this couple was walking through. I like the end result and I feel it fits well with what I love: black and white, gritty scene, historical buildings with lots of caracter, …

I was in Warsaw in December. The air was cold and the clouds were grey. This communist time building absolutely suited the atmosphere. I made many photos in the area surrounding the building. Lots of them bad, a few good. I liked this one. What do you think?

The building is the Palace of Culture and Science (or Pałac Kultury i Nauki) in Warsaw.

We went to Oslo for a short fall holiday. The early mornings were reserved for photography.

Lately I'm focusing on the darker side of life: the hard knock life of these anonymous workers, a lonely figure in the big city or an eerie graveyard.

These photos are not meant to make you happy, but I hope you will enjoy them nonetheless.

I was in Finland for work in June. I had two days for myself. One day I went to Tampere. The other day I spent in Helsinki. After many busy days, I wanted to spend some time alone, just me and my camera.

I started walking and ended up in this neighborhood with all these apartment blocks. They would become the background to some of my favorite black and white images from Finland. Here you can see I few I like.

I was in Finland for work in June. After the conference I had two days before returning home. I went to Tampere on the first day. I had seen a few photos from the university. The location was ideal but unfortunately it was very quiet there. I had to wait at least 15 minutes to have someone walking up the stairs here. I didn't have as much patience or luck in other scenes I came across. It could be worth it to come back one day, but I´m not sure if that´s realistic. I´ll put a few of the other scenes in my stories.
