A lot of wildlife photography happens long before the final image is shared.

I photographed this barred owl in my local forest with distracting branches and uneven light. Which is a lot competing for attention. My goal during editing wasn't to change the moment, it was to guide the viewer's eye back to the owl and recreate what drew me to the scene in the first place.

This was such an unreal moment to be able to witness these beautiful Orcas (fromT090s) from the Lions Gate Bridge on Sunday. Not only was there this one pod of 4, but another pod followed 15 minutes after!

I'm super thankful to have been able to spend a couple hours with so many people and experience the magic together. Theres just something about being with other people and getting excited about the same thing that really hits you deep inside.

I will forever remember this day

A quiet lesson in the canopy 🦉🌲—a young Great Horned Owl testing its wings under the watchful eye of mom. That intense stare, the half-spread wings, the confidence building moment by moment… this is where wild instincts are passed down on the West Coast of British Columbia.

🌏Earth Day is a reminder that every wild moment matters.

From silent wings in the forest to the power of orcas cutting through coastal waters, from fragile bird eggs hidden in plain sight to the resilience of bears, coyotes, and raccoons—this is all part of the same story. A story of balance, survival, and connection.

Places like Berg Lake and the ecosystems around us aren’t just beautiful—they’re essential. What we protect today is what we’ll still be able to witness tomorrow.

Get outside. Respect wildlife. Leave it better than you found it.
