📍 Sengaku-ji, Temple of the 47 Rōnin, Minato

This Tokyo temple is the resting place of the 47 rōnin, samurai who became legends after avenging their lord Asano in the early 1700s. At the entrance of their cemetery, visitors receive incense sticks to place on each grave — a simple gesture to honor their loyalty. The youngest of the rōnin was only 16.
Their story has inspired countless retellings, including the film 47 Ronin, and Sengaku‑ji remains a powerful place to reflect on honor and devotion.
