📆 2020 & before

My is done! 🚲
I went to every 581 municipalities of Belgium on my bike. I added an additional restriction to myself, I had to either start or finish my ride home🏠. Thanks to this motivation, I accumulated 10 000km in 2020, made a few white nights on my bike 🌌, discovered great places and have exceeded my limits. My notion of a long ride has well changed, my longest ride is over 400km with and i was able to get some friends on their first >200km, gg to you 🤩. Here is de tracks of all my rides i recorded. I love that map.
Next step : every country of europe? Who's in?! Or maybe, any better ideas for me? 🗺

Sometimes plans are evolving quite fast. The plan was simple, joins me in Torino with our skis and we ski across the Alps. Thanks to we could stay few nights in Torino waiting for the good moment. Two friends from were ready to catch us around the Mt Cenis pass with a pulk to pull my bike on the snow. We both kept an eye on the snow conditions everyday, waiting for the good day. Louis and I had to figure out how to get out of torino with one 🚲 and two pairs of 🎿🎿.
And here comes the fun. The conditions aren't safe enough to ski across the pass, plans need to change. In 24h we found a 60€ bike for Louis and we were on our way to the Frejus Tunnel with two 🚲🚲 and our two pairs of 🎿🎿 on the bikes. You want to know how we finished with our 🚲🚲, three pairs of 🎿🎿🎿 and an awsome red Punto 🚘 staying in Raymond's (or 's private) chalet 🏰 ! Maintaining your bike in acceptable condition is a thing. Clean your chain, replacing brake pads or a worn rim is not surprising. My front wheel had 9000 km and most of it with panniers, it makes a lot a breaking history 🚵 I replaced it in Budapest in an awsome underground shop advised by a Warmshower ! Before going up in the Alps, I replaced my brake pads, it was time for them to retire 💀

We also had to MacGyver some fixes 📎 Surprisingly Hub & Marge had some issues with their Ortlieb panniers. They lost some bolts and we had to replace them with a piece of rope. There is also that time I had to ask fo a bolt 🔩 at a construction site to replace my Brooks tensionning screw. Lucky me that they had a right sized bolt and gave it to me 🤞And my favorite tool to MacGyver stuff is my beloved
Leatherman 🔧

The good point about ORTLIEB Outdoor Equipment and Brooks ? They supply spare parts and let us fix their gear instead of advising us to buy new ones 👌

Finding a nice wild ⛺ spot in an unknown country isn't always easy. And it's even harder when it gets dark outside 🌅 Is it allowed? 👮‍♀ Will someone see us? 👀 You don't want your bike stolen, or your food eaten by some animals. All you need is a piece of flat ground to spend the night 😴
That morning, we were surprised by the beauty of the spot! We set up camp at night and didn't realise it was so beautiful. It is just 10m aside the road, high enough to be hidden from the car lights 🚘..With the time you gain confidence while deciding on a campsite. We spend our last nights in plain sight, we even spent a night in the middle of a village just aside the church ⛪ You just need to trust people, avoid to bother anyone and cross your fingers 🤞

"Riding on a road without any bike lane is dangerous !"
Here is our advice. Force the cars and trucks to respect the 1m/1.5m distance thanks to wonderful foam noodles 🍝 (or fries for belgians 🍟). Don't be scared of cars, just take the space you deserve on the road. Even if it's not always legal, you will feel the difference.
Pro tip for night : attach your light at the end of it, they will take even more distance 🚨💪

We will remember you, Hungary.
It started well with our >24h ride from Vienna to Budapest 🚴‍♂️. Then we had really good hosts and amazing weather for the 13 days we spend in Hungary ☀️⛱️🌅
