Residence DNB, Knokke-Heist, Belgium

Raw materials, soft curves and panoramic sea views define Residence DNB by interior architect Britt Van Namen.

Located in Duinbergen, this duplex penthouse is conceived as a refined weekend retreat by the Belgian coast. A rounded stainless-steel kitchen island, rammed-earth flooring and a wall clad in scaffolding timber create a striking balance between robustness and warmth.

Throughout the interior, natural stone, oak, vintage lighting and carefully selected design pieces reinforce the project’s tactile character. Generous ceiling heights and a central void connect both levels while maintaining an intimate atmosphere.
The result is a coastal interior that feels rugged yet refined, where materiality, proportion and light shape the experience.

Torre Negra, Durango, Mexico

At the Alamedas Campus of the Autonomous University of Durango, Torre Negra by Jonathan Corral Arquitectos combines a strong architectural identity with a carefully controlled environmental strategy.

Designed as a laboratory building, the compact black volume is wrapped in a metal screen that filters direct sunlight, introduces diffused daylight and supports natural ventilation.

Subtle rotations within the façade create a sense of movement, making the envelope appear to shift between solidity and transparency throughout the day.
Suspended metal staircases further blur the boundary between interior and exterior, while landscaped areas with rosemary, lavender and water soften the approach to the building.

A restrained project where architecture is defined through light, repetition, modulation and material precision.

Split Mass Residence, Banten, Indonesia 🇮🇩

Designed by K-Thengono Design Studio, Split Mass Residence turns a corner plot into a layered tropical home shaped by movement, landscape, privacy and climate.

The house is organised through split volumes that create a continuous sequence from the ground-floor living spaces to an indoor theatre, rooftop swimming pool, outdoor yoga area and planted roof.

Operable woven screens made from recycled PET rattan help filter sunlight, support cross-ventilation and maintain privacy, while bamboo-textured concrete gives the lower level a tactile architectural character.

Here, circulation is not simply functional. It becomes the main architectural experience, connecting interior spaces with gardens, terraces and the sky.

Dune House by Waechter Architecture | North Oregon Coast, United States

Located among the dunes of the northern Oregon Coast, Dune House combines the simplicity of traditional regional architecture with a refined contemporary approach.
The exterior is wrapped in weathering cedar shingles, while the interior is defined by oak flooring and paneling, minimal detailing and a restrained material palette.

A skylit central courtyard forms the heart of the house, surrounded by bedrooms, living spaces, kitchen and dining areas. Carefully framed views toward the coastal landscape reinforce the connection between architecture and nature.
Designed by Waechter Architecture, the project demonstrates how simple organization, natural materials and controlled daylight can create architecture that feels both timeless and deeply rooted in its surroundings.

MOAPAA: Architecture, Indigenous art and landscape come together in Alberta, Canada

SPECTACLE Bureau for Architecture and Urbanism has revealed new details for the upcoming Museum of Aboriginal Peoples’ Art and Artifacts (MOAPAA) at Portage College in Lac La Biche.
The museum will house the world’s most extensive collection representing the complete Professional Native Indian Artists Inc. group.

Its architecture is closely connected to the surrounding landscape: seven elliptical pathways represent the seven historic PNIAI artists, while a kinetic timber screen responds to the wind and the vertical rhythm of the surrounding Aspen forest.
Inside, retractable platforms and rotating walls allow the galleries to be continuously reconfigured, moving away from the traditional museum “white box”.
Built largely in mass timber and topped by a prairie roof garden, MOAPAA combines cultural preservation, environmental resilience and flexible exhibition design.
The project received a 2025 Canadian Architect Award of Excellence.

Hirschbachbad in Aalen, Germany | 4a Architekten

Architecture shaped by landscape, water and light.

The new Hirschbachbad by 4a Architekten brings together sport, leisure, wellness and outdoor swimming within a building carefully integrated into the Hirschbach Valley.

Rather than dominating its surroundings, the complex follows the natural topography through staggered levels, terraces and green roofs. Large glazed façades connect the swimming halls with the landscape, while warm materials, natural tones and carefully placed colour accents give the interiors a distinctive identity.

With indoor and outdoor pools, a 50-metre sports pool, diving facilities, leisure areas and a dedicated sauna landscape, Hirschbachbad demonstrates how complex public architecture can combine functionality, atmosphere and environmental sensitivity.

**Casa Terral by P11 Arquitectos | Mérida, Mexico**

Casa Terral feels very much part of Yucatán.

Designed by P11 Arquitectos in Temozón Norte, Mérida, the 400 m² residence is organised around a central courtyard where an existing tree becomes one of the main elements of the house.

The living spaces open towards the garden, terrace and swimming pool through large glazed openings, bringing air, light and vegetation deep into the interior.

The choice of materials also comes directly from the region. Stone recovered during excavation was reused at the entrance, while Chukum and Kankab, the characteristic red earth of the Yucatán Peninsula, give the façade its warm and textured appearance.

A handcrafted concrete lattice incorporating crushed recycled glass filters light and air on the upper level and has become one of the most recognisable features of the project.

The landscape was treated with the same attention. Existing trees were preserved or relocated where possible, and 17 native trees were planted in the rear garden.

Casa Terral is contemporary architecture, but its identity is clearly connected to the place where it was built.

The Dip Pavilion by andblack design studio, Ahmedabad, India

The Dip Pavilion is conceived as a transparent architectural extension of an existing residential landscape in Ahmedabad.

Designed by andblack design studio, the pavilion brings together a lounge and gym within a generous glass volume positioned beside the swimming pool.
A sculptural roof stretches across the building and descends towards the ground, creating a sheltered entrance while establishing the pavilion’s distinctive architectural identity.

Full-height glazing, slender columns and continuous stone flooring strengthen the connection between interior and garden.
Outside, a floating deck, curtain waterfall and swimming pool form a single composition in which architecture, water and landscape merge.

Restrained in material and precise in form, The Dip Pavilion creates a serene setting for wellness, relaxation and evening gatherings.
