Three main reasons brought me to Zoo Beauval: the Red-shanked doucs, the Harpy Eagles and, of course, the Golden Snub-nosed Monkeys.

I never imagined that, in just a year and a half, I would have the chance to see 10 different Golden Snub-nosed Monkeys! What an incredible journey it has been.

At Zoo Beauval, they have a different subspecies than the one at Pairi Daiza. Beauval is home to the Hubei Golden Snub-nosed Monkey, while Pairi Daiza has the Qinling Golden Snub-nosed Monkey.

And there was another wonderful surprise: both mothers had a baby!

Female Jindou gave birth to a little girl on March 11, and female Jinhua welcomed a little boy on April 2. The leader of the group, and proud father, is Jinbao.

The oldest baby is Jinli, while the second little one is Jinyou.

Of course, I was hoping to get a beautiful portrait of the little ones. And seeing them so well was definitely one of the highlights of my visit to Zoo Beauval!

These beautiful and endangered monkeys are truly special, and I feel very lucky to have been able to see them again — and especially these adorable little newcomers. 🧡
