First glimpses of winter 2026 ❄️

These photos capture some unforgettable winter days here in Belgium.

All were taken on the same early January day in the High Fens.

Wrapped in dense fog, the trees were completely covered in frost ; perfect conditions for true winter scenes.

I focused on isolating the tree trunks to create cleaner, more minimal compositions.

A classic spot again… but wow, what a sunrise! ☀️

I honestly didn’t expect those conditions — fog, clouds, colors… everything showed up at the perfect moment.
As usual, the place was pretty crowded, so moving around and adjusting the composition wasn’t easy. But still, such an epic location and an unforgettable sunrise!

Have you ever dealt with super crowded photography spots?
How do you handle it — do you wait in line or try to think outside the box instead of going for the obvious shot?

For me, it’s not always easy to get creative right away, especially when it’s my first time at a location. Usually, once I grab the obvious shot, I can relax, look around, and naturally find something different.

Freezing morning, with amazing views.

First pic I took that morning ; as there was little light, long exposure of 30 seconds to catch the whole scene. On the right you'll see the moving clouds.

Another Tip is to arrive before sunrise to enjoy the blue hour !

Long exposure.. At first sunrays

With ND filters, we are able to extend exposure time, and this time up to 120 seconds !
I really like to use those filters as they enable you to capture something your eyes can't really 'see'.
It gives you an extra tool to your creativity.

For those who are not familiar with this; they act like 'sunglasses', reducing the amount of light that reaches the sensor

In this case, it flattends the sea and really make the clouds look like they are moving, with that blurred effect.

Belgium - August 2023

For the first one, I used an aperture of F4 to really isolate that web creating a nice bokeh at the back, and I also took care to align and center the silhouette of the trees.
