Temporarily named as Raider and Zsemle, we found them sitting in front of a house along with other kittens after hiking. Compared to the others and the adult cats, who were still looking worse for wear, these two kittens were clearly not going to last the next few days. Skeletally thin, missing fur on almost half their bodies, we took them straight away. At the vet, we learned they had feline coronavirus, which explained their constant (and I mean constant) diarrhea that lasted almost a week. Ear, belly, and external parasites also showed up. After 17 days they are starting to finally hit a turning point, but whether they are released or rehomed remains to be seen.

Mako, caught together with Lady. Mako had come across as rather uncatchable before, and indeed I hadn't expected to get him on the day that I did. He was always around for the food but never stayed if I walked up. That is until Ivan, a male black cat, came up to say hi to him. Some switch in his brain flipped and for 10 seconds he was purring and asking for pets. By the time those ten seconds were over and he could regret his actions however, I already had him wrapped up in a towel.

Lady, probably a sister of Ivan, was easily caught, sterilise, and released. But she was so aggressively pursuing affection while in captivity she is the only cat so far that managed to completely flip and escape the cage.

This is the face of an animal who has only known cruelty its whole life.

This is Boris. Terrified of humans, I photographed Boris last year (the last two photos) and since then his condition appeared to have worsened. To try and help, I caught him and neutered him, gave him parasite medication, and washed his coat as best I could and checked for ticks.

I also tried to show him that there is more to the world than suffering. After a few hours and a couple cuts on my hands, he reliably let me pet him without further attacks and even emitted the faintest purrs.

Boris is back on the street but every day I think about catching him again, he deserves a loving life.

A socialised female cat abandoned on the street, sitting on a piece of cardboard by a road for four days. Missing or injured eye and maybe pregnant, probably why someone threw her out. Temperatures are negative at night and dogs are around. She is clearly not used to living outside on her own. I will try to take her to the vet soon to look at her condition.
