Blink, and the years fall away like leaves.

I was almost 12 when Cat was born. Almost. The way you count the years in advance when you’re too young to understand that time is holy ground, and never slows down.

Getting to witness her becoming her was one of the biggest pleasures of my life.

Ms. Cum Laude, proud is such a mediocre word for what I feel towards you. But I am sure you’ll keep making me speechless for decades to come.

Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with me. Your taste in literature, preference for silence, introspect personality, love for all living things. It is a pleasure to connect with you in so many heart-expanding things.

You know it hasn’t been easy. Blood bounds rarely are. But if living in a burning ball lost in an unknown galaxy means that it’s you, me, and forever, it sounds like a sweet deal for me.

I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life holding your hand. No matter what.
