She’s back.

Seeing the same female whale return between Tahiti and Moorea over different years is always a special feeling. Knowing she has traveled thousands of kilometers across the ocean makes every encounter even more meaningful.

This female is very curious and playful. During our different encounters over the years, we have observed her with male whales on several occasions — and in many of these encounters, they were different individuals. Could she be one of the most sought-after females this season? We simply don’t know, but it is always fascinating to observe.

And maybe… she could be expecting a calf. It’s only a possibility, but we will keep watching and hope to learn more in the future.

Every encounter is a reminder of how incredible nature is, and how lucky we are to witness these moments.

Over the years, this same female whale has been identified on several occasions by WildAura and other operators. The dates below are the encounters documented by Louise and Louise Lam there are more observations recorded over the years.

July, back in French Polynesia 🌺

In Moorea, back to my favorite sunrises and back in the ocean.
I’ve been spending my days shooting, looking for whales and enjoying being back on the water.

Seeing the first humpback whales of the season made me so happy 🐋
