Gabriele Lentini Gabriele Lentini, nasce a Palermo nel 1963. Dopo studi classici ed una formazione giuridica si dedica completamente alla fotografia ed al video.

Fotografo, operatore ed editor video, collabora all’inizio con studi di produzione televisiva realizzando service giornalistici per conto di emittenti nazionali ed internazionali e produzioni video per committenza pubblica e privata, operando in contemporanea come fotografo freelance e realizzando docenze di fotografia ed editing video. Dal 2003 vive fra Italia e Russia, dove ha pubblicato su di

versi magazine come il National Geographic, Geo, Karavan, Phototecnica. In Russia ha realizzato reportage su celebri figure della storia sovietica, quali quella del generale Mikhail Timofievich Kalashnikov. del cinema e del teatro quali Armen Jigarkhanyan, o dell’arte quali Nikas Safronov. Negli ultimi anni ha documentato la realtà russa attraverso l’esplorazione di differenti repubbliche della Federazione spingendosi fino in Buriatia e Jacuzia, dove ha realizzato un reportage ad Oymyakon, il villaggio abitato più freddo del pianeta con il suo record di -71°. E’ membro della “Unione dei Fotografi d’Arte della Russia” e della “Società Geografica Russa”. Negli ultimi anni ha realizzato diverse mostre anche in collaborazione con i più prestigiosi fotografi russi ( Prospettiva Russia 2011 – Reale Albergo dei Poveri di Palermo in collaborazione con Victor Akhlomov). In occasione della riapertura del Museo Guttuso di Bagheria (2009) il suo lavoro e stato selezionato per una esposizione permanente dei piu rappresentativi autori della fotografia siciliana. Nel 2014 ha esposto, in concomitanza dell’apertura della “Notti Bianche”, presso il Museo Nazionale di Storia delle Religioni di San Pietroburgo, con la collaborazione dell’Istituto Italiano di Cultura e del Consolato Generale d’Italia, la mostra dedicata alla comunità dei “Francescani Rinnovati” che a Corleone ed a Napoli vivono, in clausura ed in completa povertà, all’interno di un carcere medioevale e di quattro vagoni ferroviari del 1930, operando anche a favore di comunità disagiate ed in contrasto con il fenomeno mafioso.

Istanbul is poignant and captivates the soul. I have always felt an inner attraction to this city, where the secrets of the soul are guarded. Opposites unite and unfold in the passage, proof of human existence. Mythology has it that Zeus was in love with Io and transformed her into a white heifer to escape his wife's jealousy. Arriving at the stretch of sea between Europe and Asia, he swam across, which thus took the name Bosphorus, the passage of the heifer. In this sense, Istanbul and the Bosphorus represent the transition between worlds (Europe and Asia) and symbolize the overcoming of passions and the search for peace. Seemingly chaotic to the point of impossibility, it embodies a higher order in which extremes, each moment different and new like the waves of the sea, merge and transform. Istanbul is both the symbol and the experience of a journey of inner transformation.
