This is an afternoon sunburst at the Nyugati / Budapest Western Railway Station in Budapest, Hungary.

Opened in 1877, it was built by the Eiffel Company (recognized the name?)

Sometimes it's interesting what you find when you go back and look at a collection of photographs you've taken years before. Sometimes you find overlooked hidden treasures!

After finding the photograph, I brightened it just a bit, added some yellow to the sunburst, and lightened up the shadows - here you are!

Nothing special here - just a nice specimen of a large barracuda.

Usually wary of divers, this large barracuda just hovered in place as we dove past.

Barracudas can reach up to 5 1/2 feet long, and they are predators, preying upon smaller fish with their razor sharp teeth.

Yes, they are quite menacing in appearance, but attacks on divers are exceedingly rare, unless some fool provokes them.

As with so many things in life, sometimes simplicity is best.

Here's a curious yellowtail snapper that yesterday kept following and looking at me. He must have wanted some publicity, and I finally obliged him.

The London Photography Awards were announced last week, and I'm honored that all my entries received at least one gold award.

(Unlike my friend and talented photographer Jennifer Kielmeyer Batey, who racked up more, I'm still chasing that elusive platinum ....)

I had previously entered this image in other contests, but I thought, "well, it is the LONDON awards ...." Four golds - I guess I'll retire this one now.

Hey, Scott Kelby and Erik Kuna, this was a 15-shot HDR panorama. Am I excused from this month's Inner Circle assignment?

Back in the water in Belize ... and within the first five minutes along comes a gorgeous loggerhead turtle!

I was alongside long-time friend and extraordinary scuba instructor Eder Eloy Gonzalez ("Loidy") when this loggerhead approached. I captured some nice stills, but Loidy took a great video of the loggerhead passing directly over him.

All turtles are fun, but there's just something special about loggerheads.

This is the Black Eye Galaxy a/k/a M64, approximately 17 million lightyears from Earth.

It was discovered in 1779, and is located within the constellation Coma Berenices.

It is estimated to contain 100 billion stars, and is 53,800 lightyears in diameter.

This photograph was taken with my DWARF3 smart telescope, and is the result of 958 stacked images.

Here’s the aptly-named Pinwheel Galaxy, 21 million lightyears from Earth.

It was finally clear last night in North Texas, so I fired up the Dwarf 3 smart telescope and looked to the stars. This photograph is compiled from 825 stacked images, captured over four hours.

The Pinwheel Galaxy, also known as M101, is located within the Ursa Major constellation, and was first discovered in 1781. This is a large galaxy, with a diameter of 252,000 lightyears, more than three times the diameter of our Milky Way.

It is estimated to contain 1 trillion stars.

Shooting my youngest set of grandsons' Little League games is so darned much fun!

Here's little Jude Jones at shortstop turning an unassisted double play.

(I learned today how to place text behind an image in Photoshop.)

Lady Claire Jones, does this meet with your approval?

Are photographs ever really completed?

I revisited my all-time favorite shark capture, just to see if software advances might help the image. (I like the shot because of the shark's "pose," and my location slightly under the animal as it approached.)

For my fellow photo-geeks, I sharpened the image, added a little exposure to the shark's belly and its eye, and placed a slight white radial gradient behind the animal.

Sorry, Rick Sammon, no AI to the image ... yet.
