Meet Maddy and her gelding, George — a dream team making their mark in the show ring. As BCPHC President for the past three years, Maddy has played a key role in growing the equine community, while continuing to build a strong partnership with her heart horse.⁣

🎤 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡’𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:⁣
How has your partnership with your horse grown over time?⁣

💬 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝:⁣
“For us, it's grown tenfold. From starting George to where we are now, we've had to grow alongside each other and learn to trust one another. From basic steps to the big trail grids — he has learned to trust my guidance and I have learned to trust his mind. Trust is our foundation every time we're together. I owe him everything for the trust he puts in me 🙏🏼”⁣

Partnerships like this are what make our sport so special — both in the arena and within the community.⁣

Thank you, Maddy, for everything you do to support and grow our equine community. 💛🐴⁣

Horse showing is a lot. But somewhere between the nerves and the early mornings, moments like this remind us we're supposed to be having fun out there too.⁣

She clearly got the memo. The horse definitely did. 😂🐴

Meet Cherie and her mare, Ariel — a dedicated pair who make the trip over from the Island to join us in the Lower Mainland show ring. A true testament to the joy of showing together.⁣⁣

🎤 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡’𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:⁣⁣
What’s your favourite part about getting ready for show season?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
💬 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝:⁣⁣
“This is such a tough question for me, because all of it is my favorite thing. Making more time to spend with my horse is at the top, reconnecting with her after giving her time off. Especially because this year will probably be my last, so super excited for us.”⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There’s something really special about this stage of the season — the reconnection, the anticipation, and the time spent together before stepping back into the ring. 💛🐴⁣⁣

At the end of the class, as you walk out of the arena, there’s often a simple moment of gratitude.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
A pat on the neck.⁣⁣
A horse that tried their heart out.⁣⁣
A partnership that carried you through.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
A small reminder that in every moment, big or small, there is something to be thankful for.⁣⁣

Meet Tamara — president of the Lower Mainland Quarter Horse Association, a dedicated leader within our equine community, and a familiar face alongside her two horses, Garth and Eileen. From helping bring us the Icebreaker in partnership with the BC Paint Horse Club to her own success in the show ring, Tamara continues to make a meaningful impact both in and out of the arena.

🎤 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡’𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
What’s one thing you’ve improved on recently that makes you proud?

💬 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝:
“It’s hard to give you one thing as there is a few things lately I am proud about. I’m proud of how much I’ve learned not just in skills, but lessons about people, boundaries and personal growth. I’ve realized my genuine love for the equine community and how much I value bringing people together through our love for horses. “Growth is not linear. Real progress involves evolving, often requiring discomfort, patience, and embracing the journey.””

This is such a powerful reminder that growth in our sport — and in life — goes far beyond ribbons. It’s about leadership, community, resilience, and continuing to evolve along the way. 💛🐴
