I've entered and won a few Black Press photo contests over the years and was well-aware that by doing so I was giving them permission to use my photos, but I do wish they would get the location right. This photo is of the Blue Mountain Winery vineyards north of Oliver, BC. It is not of the Similkameen Valley. But I guess I shouldn't be too mad about it. Any publicity is good publicity, right? 🙂

I’ve had limited time to edit these, but here are a few shots from Friday’s . These feature the USAF F-35 Lightning II, the USN E/A-18G Growler, and Melissa Burns waving to the crowd from her cockpit (zoom in to see her).

And a few more photos of our Victoria trip. This time I remembered to make it a gallery instead of just one image. 🤪

Regent College hosted a “blanket exercise” on Thursday, facilitated by two members of the BC Indigenous community. It is designed as an educational exercise and is not the same thing as a “blanket ceremony. It begins with blankets spread across the floor, representing the space occupied by the various indigenous groups that made up Canada 500 years ago. All of us participants then stand on the blankets, and over the next hour—through various methods of attrition—the people and the blankets are eliminated and the space they occupied reduced until only a few are left. This represents what remains of Canada’s indigenous population today. It was a sobering experience to say the least, and my mind is still dealing with it, but I am glad to have gone through it.

More Jerapalooza photos. This time they come from my Nikon and they’re all black and white.
