Meet Gail, one of the incredible women who said yes to being part of the Legacy in Light portrait series, where each woman writes a chapter of the book sharing her story.

And Gail’s chapter? It’s one I’ll carry with me forever.

When I first met her, she told me she was leaving her prison of a marriage and celebrating the beginning of her next chapter. The moment she said those words, I knew her session was going to be something extraordinary.

We started by photographing her behind prison cells.

And we ended with a bo***ir empowerment session that was nothing short of powerful.

The transformation between those two sets of images tells a story that no words could ever fully capture but Gail’s words in this book will come close.

This is exactly why Legacy in Light exists. These aren’t just portraits. They’re proof of survival, strength, and the beautiful brave act of choosing yourself.

I cannot wait for you to read her story and the stories of all 20 of these remarkable women. 🖤

Meet Michelle, one of the 20 incredible women featured in Legacy in Light.

In her story, she opens up about her journey through menopause, a season of life that so many women experience, yet so few openly talk about.

She shares the emotional shifts, the changes in identity, the struggles, and the strength that can emerge through it all.

What I admire most about Michelle is her willingness to be vulnerable and honest about a chapter that is often minimized or hidden. Through sharing her story, she is helping other women feel less alone.

Menopause is not the end of a woman’s beauty, power, or identity.
It is a transformation.
A redefining.
A new chapter deserving of compassion, support, and conversation.

Michelle’s story is a powerful reminder that there is still light, beauty, and strength within every stage of womanhood.

When she came to see her photos for the first time, she admitted she had low expectations about how she would feel seeing herself in the images.

But by the end of her ordering appointment, she left with the biggest smile on her face, genuinely surprised by how much she loved her photos.

She saw herself differently.
Softly.
Beautifully.
Confidently.

She knew right away she wanted a beautiful keepsake album to commemorate not just the images, but the entire experience.

This is why I always say:
when you allow yourself to trust the process, magic happens.

Sometimes we are our own harshest critics, and it takes seeing ourselves through a different lens to remember the beauty that has been there all along.

Meet Sherri, one of the inspiring women sharing her story in Legacy in Light.

Her story is about overcoming, self-discovery, and learning that it’s okay to hold multiple identities at once.

So many women spend years feeling like they have to fit into one role, one version of themselves, one definition of who they are supposed to be. But Sherri’s journey is about giving herself permission to embrace every part of who she is and learning how to merge those pieces together with compassion and authenticity.

Watching her step into that truth is incredibly powerful.

Because we are not just one thing.
We are layered.
We are evolving.
We are allowed to grow into new versions of ourselves without losing the old ones.

That is the beauty of becoming.

During this photoshoot, we wanted to create an image that represented menopause and the emotional weight so many women carry through that season of life.

This image speaks to that perfectly.

The darkness.
The vulnerability.
The feeling of being pulled in different directions while trying to still hold yourself together.

But also…
the strength.

Even surrounded by uncertainty, there is still softness, beauty, power, and grace within her.

Menopause is so often spoken about in whispers, yet it impacts women physically, emotionally, mentally, and deeply personally. Through art, movement, and light, we wanted to capture what words sometimes cannot.

Because women deserve to feel seen in every chapter of their lives. ***irphotoshoot ***ir_stories

This is Denise, one of the incredible women featured in our book series, Legacy in Light…and she almost didn’t come.

She’s spent so much of her life putting everyone else first, and walking through that studio door was one of the bravest things she’s done in a long time.

During her session, Denise opened her heart and allowed herself to truly be seen. Watching her share her story with such honesty and vulnerability was one of the most powerful moments I’ve witnessed through this project.

Her strength isn’t loud.
It’s quiet, real, and deeply powerful.

One of the things she said during her interview that stayed with me was:
“Be generous with your words. Keep going.”

Simple words, but such an important reminder.

Legacy in Light is about women sharing the stories that shaped them, the struggles they’ve carried, and the wisdom they want to leave behind for other women.

Denise’s story is a reminder that vulnerability is not weakness. There is courage in allowing yourself to be seen, even when every part of you wants to hide.

Denise, thank you for trusting me with your story, your truth, and your heart. I know your words are going to impact so many women.

Laurie is one of the classiest women I’ve had the honour of photographing.

Not only did she show up in the most fashionable outfit, but everything about her is so beautifully put together in the most authentic way. She has a presence that lights up every room she walks into.

What I admire most about Laurie is her heart for women. In her free time, she organizes fashion shows for seniors and local senior centres, creating spaces where women at any age can feel beautiful, celebrated, and seen.

She is the perfect example that age does not define style, confidence, or identity.

Laurie shows up fully and unapologetically herself, and it is inspiring to witness.

Women like her remind me that elegance is not about age.
It’s about authenticity.

This is Becky, one of the incredible women featured in our book series, Legacy in Light.

Her story is one of fear, survival, and ultimately… forgiveness.

During one of her work shifts, Becky was held hostage. The experience left a lasting impact, and the fear stayed with her long after the moment had passed.

But over time, she realized something powerful:
forgiveness was not about him.
It was about freeing herself.

Her story is a reminder that healing does not always mean forgetting what happened. Sometimes healing means choosing to release the weight you were never meant to carry forever.

The courage Becky has to share her story is deeply moving, and I know it will resonate with so many women who are carrying pain silently.

Legacy in Light is about real stories, real women, and the strength that can emerge from even the darkest moments.
