Kodiaks! 23/24 has officially come to a close, so here’s a recap.
At the beginning of the school year, SMdP was introduced to some brand new faces for the first time in 3 years. The class of 2026 finally got to begin their time here at our school, and made an impact while doing so. Our JVG basketball team, consisting of grade 10s, made a solid playoff run and punched themselves a ticket to the city championships in their very first season together. To add on the the success our athletic department saw this year, our SVB Volleyball team earned themselves a banner that will forever hang in our gymnasium. As well, they qualified for provincials and finished 9th overall. Our senior girl’s soccer team had a fantastic season as well, finishing second in the league and making it to city championships and taking home 2nd place in a solid effort against Lord Beaverbrook.
Many other exciting things happened this year as well. To name one, our drama department put on an outounding production of Mean Girls Jr. This play was led by a talented and hard working group of actors that put in countless hours after school to put together a performance for our school community. Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of kids volunteered their time to painting sets and organizing the technical side of the show. Mrs. Hamilton, Mrs. Neumiller, and Ms. Ball consistently encouraged these students to be at their best every rehearsal.
And finally, our school saw some changes. When demolitions began, we got our first look at what the next couple of years at SMdP will look like. At times it’s felt crammed, messy, and uncomfortable, but as a student body, we’ve been able to thrive through these conditions and adapt to the unfamiliarity of it all.
Here’s to a great year of demonstrating our school’s core values of fellowship, leadership, and mentorship. We look forward to welcoming some new students next year and accomplishing great things! Congratulations to the class of 2024, SMdP wishes you the best!
