Sad to say this isn't one of my greatest photos, both Jenny and I were caught up in the moment and made a rookie mistake, as we were shooting throughout the night we both didn't think of how good the focus was on our camera, even a smudge off can make or break a photo.
I decided to post this though cause I do believe this photo catches everything about us all in one photo, whether its meeting new people or getting out and enjoying what nature has to offer!!
This photo was taken in May of 2017 at the Castle Mountain junction near Banff AB, Jenny and I were camping at the near by Johnston's Canyon campground, luck had it that there was potential of an amazing aurora show and I can safely it was one of the best shows I've ever seen!!!
At Castle Mountain Junction we were surprised and thankful to see a crowd there, not to big of a crowd but just the right size to scare any bears away lol The crowd was full of experienced photographers, beginners, some who have shot the lights before but on rare occasions like ourselves and my favourite was the group of 5 or 6 Aussies who have never seen the northern lights and got so excited they jumped into the freezing cold Bow River haha
As the night wore on we talked to a few photographers, took hundreds of photos and laughed and shared the amazing moment with the Aussies of what mother nature can provide for us.
I guess I'm writing this because I just want to express how lucky I am to have these moments in my life but more importantly to everyone out there to go take risks, go meet new people and don't be sad or upset with how things work out. I was so mad at myself for the quality of our photos that night and I should've known better to check them every so often. With that being said I wouldn't change a single thing that night, not only was it an experience of a lifetime but it was a major learning curve too. Our photos have improved since then but there is always room for improvement. I look forward to the challenges ahead and hopefully things will get better as time goes by!!!
So for you guys out there, go take risks, don't be sad or upset with the outcome, take it on the chin and move on from it and go meet new people, you never know what you can learn from them and make things in your life all that much better
