The Chestnut-mandibled Toucan (Swainson’s Toucan) is Costa Rica’s largest toucan, easily spotted in lowland rainforests by its striking yellow throat, maroon-and-yellow bill, and blue feet, often seen foraging for fruit or calling in groups. Known as Tucán de Swainson or Dios-te-dé in Spanish, it’s a common but iconic bird in parks like Cahuita, symbolizing Costa Rican ecotourism, and is found from the Pacific coast to the Panama border.
