Just one of the views we enjoyed during our 60kms of paddling in this week. So happy to be back on the water, exploring the many backcountry lakes! 🛶

A painted trillium - one of the rewards of yesterday’s ~25km paddle. I was so excited when I saw this in the forest that I nearly peed my pants 🤣 Just kidding… I only saw this because I had to make an emergency landing after sending Nature’s calls to voicemail for more than an hour. 🙃 That’s what happens when you’re easily distracted by birds!! Happy May! 🗓️

This sunrise was taken at Rock Island Lodge in Wawa, which is the home-base for 2 of my workshops this year!

If you’ve ever wanted to explore the shores of Lake Superior, these are incredible opportunities for landscape photographers. 📷🌊

August 🛶 - we’re paddling a voyageur canoe along the remote north shore of Superior and camping under the stars. This shoreline is unlike the more accessible spots, offering some of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen. We need 3 more photographers to make this trip a go!

September 🥾 - we’ll be exploring Lake Superior Provincial Park during my Women’s Retreat! We’ll be on land for this one and while some hiking is involved, it won’t be too strenuous. We’ll be focusing on landscapes, but have a bit of time carved out for potential wildlife opportunities, too. I’m looking for 3-4 women to make this trip a go.

The Lake Superior Voyageur Canoe Photo Tour needs 4 more participants to make it a go. Please share this post with your photographer friends that might be interested in an epic adventure.

Travelling in a voyageur canoe along the rugged coast of Lake Superior feels like a timeless adventure, where the vast, deep blue expanse of the lake and forests that seem to stretch endlessly into the horizon. The rhythmic dip of the paddle in the water is accompanied by the sound of the wind whispering through the trees, and the occasional cry of a bald eagle overhead. As you glide along, the feeling of isolation and awe fills you, surrounded by the raw beauty of the landscape - smooth, polished rocks, sandy beaches, and the ever-changing play of light on the water. The canoe's gentle sway adds a soothing element to the experience, while the smell of pine and the earthy scent of the wilderness permeate the air, making every moment feel connected to something ancient and wild.

Join Andrew McLachlan and me on a once-in-a-lifetime photo tour on Lake Superior, where we'll paddle in a voyageur canoe through one of Canada's most stunning and untamed landscapes. This bucket-list adventure will take you to secret coves, rugged headlands, and pristine beaches, all while capturing the raw beauty through your lens. As we explore this majestic wilderness, we will guide you through the techniques and tips needed to photograph the stunning vistas, vibrant sunrises / sunsets, and waterfalls. Whether you're a seasoned photographer or just starting out, this tour will not only enhance your skills but also immerse you in the kind of nature that will inspire unforgettable images - and lasting memories. With every paddle stroke, you'll feel the magic of the lake and the power of the landscape come alive in your photos.

It’s a 40 second today to combine a couple of days… but also because who doesn’t want to listen to a moose slurping up swampy water?! 🫎💦
