Some sessions hit a little closer to home, and photographing Rena for her prom was one of them. ❤️

We’ve known Rena since she and my middle daughter, Alessia were just 9 years old. They spent years side by side on the soccer field, starting in U9 and continuing all the way through to playing together at U18. So many memories, tournaments, games, practices, wins, losses, and friendships were built along the way.

Seeing her all dressed up for prom was one of those moments that makes you realize just how quickly the years have passed. From a young soccer player chasing a ball down the field to a beautiful, confident young woman ready for her next chapter.

Rena, it was such an honor to capture this milestone for you. You looked absolutely stunning, and I couldn’t be more proud of the incredible person you’ve become. Thanks for being a great friend to Alessia ✨❤️

There was something extra special about this session.

A mom and her 18-year-old daughter… standing in that quiet space between “still my baby” and “ready to fly.” 🥺

As I photographed them together, I couldn’t help but think about my own just about 18-year-old daughter and how quickly these years seem to pass. One minute you’re holding their tiny hand crossing the street, and the next you’re watching them step into adulthood with dreams, independence, and a whole life waiting for them.

I think that’s why these sessions hit so deeply for me. As a mom, I understand the ache and beauty of watching your child grow up at the exact same time. The pride. The nostalgia. The letting go while still wanting to hold on just a little longer.

Photographs become more than images in seasons like this. They become reminders of connection, of who we were together in this moment before life shifts again.

One day these photos will tell a story neither of them will ever want to forget. 🤍

Lately I’ve been feeling a little insecure as a photographer.

This industry moves fast.
There are always new younger photographers, new trends, new styles, new ways to market yourself. And sometimes I quietly wonder if I still fit here.

But sometimes, the older I get, the more I realize experience has given me things trends never could.

Patience.
Empathy.
Perspective.
The ability to make women feel comfortable and seen.

And honestly… I think God does some of His deepest work in us through the seasons where we feel unseen or uncertain.

I may not be the trendiest photographer on Instagram.
But I know how to create connection. I know how to hold space for people in front of my camera.

So maybe there’s something beautiful about continuing to grow and create in every season of life.

I’m doing my best choosing to stop apologizing for getting older… and starting to appreciate the woman God is shaping me into instead. 🤍
