There are some places that mean more than just a pretty backdrop. 🤍
When Kerri chose her own home for her family photos, there was a reason behind it. This is the place where so many of their memories have been made, where her kids have grown up, and a place that has become part of their family’s story. Years from now, these photos won’t just remind her what everyone looked like. They’ll bring her right back to this chapter of their lives.
And of course, they had to include their puppy too, because our dogs really are part of the family! He may have actually been one of the best behaved subjects I’ve ever photographed. 😂 I’d tell him where I wanted him, he’d pose like an absolute professional, and when he decided his job was done, he’d run off until we needed him again. He definitely understood the assignment!
Photographing Kerri with her kids was also such a reminder of why I believe family photos are so important.
Kids grow up incredibly fast. One day they’re little and the next they’re teenagers, graduating, heading off to college, starting careers and building lives of their own. When I look at her photos, I think about how special it is that she chose to freeze this particular season of their lives before it changes again.
There will always be a reason to put family photos off until next year. But you don’t get this exact version of your family again.
Take the photos. Get Mom in them. Include the dog. Photograph your kids even when they’re practically grown. And choose the place that means something to you.
Because someday, these photographs become a little piece of a time you’d give anything to visit again. ❤️
