Winter might be the most underrated time for photos here in Ontario ❄️

Most couples tell me they’re “awkward in front of the camera” until they’re laughing in the snow, brushing flakes off each other, sharing coffee on a truck tailgate, and completely forgetting I’m even there.

That’s when it shifts.
The real smiles. The soft looks. The moments that actually feel like you.

You don’t need perfect weather.
You don’t need to know how to pose.
You just need to show up together.

There’s something quietly magical about a January wedding 🤍❄️

It was cold and blustery, snow falling steadily, and the kind of winter air that makes you second guess being outside yet these two were absolute champs.

If you’re planning a winter wedding and feeling nervous about the weather, you’re not alone. Most couples worry they’ll freeze, feel stiff, or that the day won’t photograph the way they imagined. But winter days like this often create the most romantic wedding photos. Everything slows down. You’re closer, more present, and the moments feel deeply real.

A little tip for winter wedding portraits: choose one warm layer that feels like you a wrap, shawl, or coat you love. Comfort makes such a difference, and relaxed always photographs better.

This little one gave us both. 🤍😂

These are the moments I LOVE photographing: tiny hands, curious looks, crumbs everywhere, and that completely unbothered chaos that makes this season so special.

Perfect smiles are cute, but real life is better.
And these photos? They’ll feel like home when you look back.

Cake smash photos in Wellington County are honestly always a mix of sweet + hilarious + how is there icing in places I didn’t know existed 😅

This sweet family chose to do their newborn photos in a studio, and it was the perfect mix of calm, cozy, and real connection.

Snuggles on the bed, tiny stretches, nose kisses, story time with big sibling, and those quiet little in-between moments you never want to forget.

Whether we photograph your family at home or in a studio space, my goal is always the same:

This year, I’m carrying forward the kinds of sessions that align with both my mama heart and my photography heart, focusing on documentary-style family photography that celebrates real life, genuine connection, and the moments that matter most. 🤍

Between January and March, I’m looking for three families who are open to a more candid, lifestyle-focused approach. I’ll join you for an hour or two while you simply do life together, and in winter around Arthur Ontario, that could look like a game night, skating, bowling, baking cookies, or a favourite tradition that feels like your real family story.

Instead of a traditional posed session, these documentary family sessions focus on authentic moments: kids in their element, parents relaxed and present, and zero pressure to look at the camera. The result is honest, connected images that reflect this season of your life in a way that feels natural and true.

I’ll be offering a small discounted rate in exchange for permission to share the images online, to help others see the beauty of this style of storytelling and what lifestyle family photography can look like.

January maternity sessions in Elora, Ontario have a quiet kind of magic 🤍
Soft snowfall, cozy layers, and the sweetest anticipation as this beautiful couple waits to meet their baby.

Winter maternity photos may be chilly, but they’re often slower, calmer, and more intimate. No crowds, soft light, and space to simply be together. Elora’s rivers, stone streets, and snowy paths make it such a timeless setting for outdoor maternity photography in every season.

If you’re expecting and this slower, more natural approach speaks to you, this season is worth remembering just as it is.

Looking back on 2025 and feeling so grateful for every family, every business, every story, and every real life moment we captured together. This year was filled with laughter, connection, cozy in between moments, meaningful brand stories, and joyful chaos, the kind of memories that remind me why I love being a photographer in Arthur, Ontario and the surrounding Wellington North community.

My goal has always been to create stress free, relaxed photo sessions that feel natural and fun, while documenting authentic moments, genuine connection, and memories you will cherish for years to come, whether that is in your home, at your favourite place, or inside your business. As a family and lifestyle photographer, I’m moving into 2026 with a small but intentional shift in the way I share photos of children here. Over the past while, I haven’t been posting as much because this has been on my mind, and I’ve been working through how to keep sharing my work in a way that feels respectful, safe, and aligned with my values.

Going forward, you’ll see more story focused, documentary style images rather than clearly identifiable portraits of children. That might look like side profile moments, little hands in motion, children looking down or away, wide frames where kids are small in the scene, silhouettes, and detail based storytelling.

This shift doesn’t mean your favourite photos from a session aren’t beautiful or meaningful. Many images are simply kept private because they belong to the family, not the internet. This approach allows me to continue sharing my art in a way that feels thoughtful, intentional, and comfortable moving forward.

Consent is always at the heart of my work. I check in with families about what they’re comfortable with, and anyone who prefers not to have their images shared online is fully respected. There is never any pressure to allow images to be posted.

I hold no judgment about how families choose to share on their own pages, where they control their audience. This is simply the approach I’m choosing for my public portfolio and the way I represent my work.
