The Solomon Islands 🇸🇧

I’m very grateful to have been able to experience a portion of what this nation of islands has to offer.

It became abundantly clear to me early on that tourism is not rife or common on these islands, made obvious by the stares of confusion and interest as I walked the streets. However the people here are so friendly and welcoming, and not once did I feel unsafe, with everybody saying hello/good morning or happy to have a chat and the stares are purely out of intrigue.

The lack of tourism here is simply down to a lack of investment from the government in making tourism of these islands easily accessible. Import and fuel prices being high means that everything comes with a higher than expected price tag, making travel both on the islands and between the different islands difficult as a solo traveler but slightly more manageable as a group.

This country has so much to offer though with amazing scuba diving sites, incredible history from WWII, natural beauty and fascinating culture. I just hope there is more investment put into the infrastructure so that more people are able to experience this wonderful nation.

The MS World Discoverer 🛳️
The German cruise liner grounded in 2000 to prevent sinking after striking a rock in the Solomon Islands.
It was carrying around 200 people and managed to come away with no death or injuries but due to civil unrest on the islands at the time, the boat was ransacked before recovery operations could begin and it was deemed a total loss.
Now a rusting giant embraced by the jungle and calm seas, it’s a surreal reminder of nature’s power and time’s quiet takeover.

Merry Christmas from Down Under ⛄️🇦🇺

Spotted this little chap on Lucky Bay, Cape Le Grand while travelling Western Australia earlier this month. It definitely gave everyone a chuckle and some Christmas spirit as they walked past, and also shows just how powdery the sand is that you can make a Snowman out of it.

I hope my Friends, Family and everyone else that sees this has a wonderful Christmas wherever you are in the world 🎄🎅🏼 🎁

Whitsundays photo dump part 1
Absolutely incredible trip to Hamilton Island, Airlie Beach and Whitsunday. Sky diving, snorkelling with turtles, playing golf at one of the most beautiful courses I’ve ever seen, seeing my first koala, amazing food, stunning beaches, it really had it all 💚
Can’t wait to edit all the photos from my camera and 360camera next, stay tuned!

Race 5 done and dusty, my second triathlon overall with a lot of improvement.

Despite carrying a pretty rough back injury managed to PB my 5km and put a solid stint in on the bike.

Transitions were way faster than my first time round so very happy with that.

The swim however was definitely rough, as seen by the placing of 90th out of 100 in my category. Open water swimming is something I’m going to have to work on a lot more as the pool sessions are clearly not translating but keen to put in the work and improve.

If you’re looking to give triathlon a go 2XU ones are great and really well run so definitely recommend
